Chapter 17

We played in the river for few hours. Just talking and laughing around. We only decided to stop when it's nearly lunch. We need to eat of course. 

I decided to shift on our way back to the pack house. Shifting on to my beautiful golden wolf, Reui could not stop wiggling his tails and licking my face while making some purring sounds. I licked his face back and and rubbed myself to him. We could not communicate yet but we already understood each other.

I growled at him when he couldn't stop himself from nudging me from time to time and making begging noises. I know he wants me to lick him again so all my scent will scattered around him. He could not even stop rubbing himself to me while we were trotting back to the house! This clingy and possessive wolf! Gosh!

He was the one to shift back to his human form. He handed me some spare clothes and I changed from the back of the trunk.

I glared at him. “You're so clingy!”

He grinned and shyly scratched his eyebrow. “Can't help it. You're the most beautiful wolf I have ever seen in my whole life.”

My glare eventually disappeared. I pouted to hide my smile.

I blushed. “Well, you're... cute, too.”

He laughed. “I don't know whether to feel offended or not, but since the compliment comes from you, I will surely treasure it in my heart.”

“Poetic,” I scoffed before we burst in to a laughter.

“But I'm serious, your wolf is beautiful. She's impressive, too. You seem taller and slimmer than most of the she-wolves in this pack. Your golden fur was also very shiny and thick,” he complimented.

“Hmm, thank you, then.”

He smiled and extended his hand. I put my hand above his and we got inside the house together. Mommy Cam was there and she has already prepared the lunch for us. As we ate, Catherine suddenly came with a frown on her face. I hid the smirk on my face as Reui's mother invited her to eat with us. I obviously show her how clingy I am with MY mate.

“Reui, can you give me that one?” I whispered to his ear and felt him tensed as his hair on his nape stood. 

He gulped. “This one?" he whispered back..

“Hmm,” I hummed.

“Okay,” he said before taking the dessert.

“Will you feed me, hmm?" I, again, whispered to his ear sensually, that only the two of us could hear.

“Of course,” he replied immediately. When I look at his face, I saw his eyes has dilated in lust. I almost giggled at myself. I threw a glance at Catherine who's sitting across from us. She was hardly gritting her teeth, I'm afraid it will break. She gripped on her fork tightly.

Reui affectionately pampered me. I could see mommy Cam's eyes were sparkling in love and awe, the twins acts like they're puking out, while Cathebitch stayed quiet.

I smirked smugly. Go cry about it b*tch.

After the breakfast, I went back to my room and took a bath. Ingrid was back and accompanied me. Reui was busy with his pack duties, especially because of the incident happened yesterday. 

They thought they would solve it immediately, but they were wrong. It took more than 3 days to finally able to find holes. Apparently, someone let the rogues to infiltrate the pack. Someone purposely distracted the men whose patrolling around that time. They've got a lead but no concrete evidence yet.

Reui sighed and slumped down on my bed. It's been 4 days since that happened and he's still thinking about it until now. I'm beginning to worry.

“Come on, rest for awhile,” I said and patted the bed space beside me. He glanced at me and smiled. 

“Thank you, but I had a lot of—”

“Come on!” I pouted and flashed him a puppy eyes. “Let's cuddle for a while, alright?”

He sighed and flashed another smile. I know he's tired so I'm trying my best to help him ease with stress even a bit. Having my presence, I know he will be in ease. You know, the bond stuff and all.

He lay down beside me. His head is resting on my belly as he hugged me. I brushed my fingers through his hair and caressed his head.

“Don't overwork yourself, alpha,” I said softly. “You may be strong, but you're still a person who feels tired, too.”

“It's okay. As an Alpha, it is my responsibility and to put my Luna, my family, and my people, my top priority. Your safety is what matters the most to me. I less care about myself than—” I cut him off.

“And it's wrong.” I sighed. “You're an alpha, we are your responsibility, yes. We can't take it from you to get worried over your people, however, you must not forget yourself. How are we, if you were not here? If you got sick... die... how about your people?” I said while caressing his head. 

He was silent for a moment.

“You are right...” he mumbled. “But... I can't just let it pass. Your life was at risk because of that incident. If I lost you, people would lost me, too. Our lives were already in tangled to each other, Katia. As much as possible, I don't want you to get hurt. I want to offer you a good life and a peaceful pack. When we got married and have our own pups, I want them to have a wonderful life.” He tilted his head and looked up at me. “I'm sorry if I make you worry. My wolf, he's restless, we want to find someone responsible for the incident. He's enrage the moment we saw you cry and scared. Katia, it frightens me when I saw you shaking in fear...” His voice came out a whisper.

He closed his eyes.

My heart squeezed. It must be the bond. I could feel the extreme sadness in his chest. His feelings were too intense that I, myself, could even feel it.

“R-Reui... what's wrong?” I asked.

He opened his eyes, no tears is visible, as if he's already used suppressing his tears.

“Nothing...” he said and flashed a small smile. “I just don't want to make you cry... like what he did to my mom.”
