“We did it last night,” Marina whispered excitedly as we made our way through the streets that were alive with preparations, the buzz in the air brimmed with excitement - tomorrow was my crowning ceremony.

I felt eyes trail me as we walked by the sea of people, some bowed while others just watched me starstruck. The members of the pack had accepted me already, I was the Beta’s daughter after all, sweet, kind Alena whom they'd known since she was a little girl.

I turned back to whatever Marina was saying because she never seemed to stop saying something, so far I was getting used to her and I was able to tolerate her to some extent.
