I remained unmoving on the floor, too paralyzed by shock to even move a muscle.

“Get a grip of yourself, Eliana!” Aunt Aurora screamed at me. “Do you know what you were about to do? Do you realize the weight of the deal you were about to make? If it hadn't been for me?”

Tears ran down my face, pouring down furiously this time, they weren't even trying to hide.

“I know you are in shock but that woman. She's the devil herself! She doesn't care about anyone else and has only ever wanted power, she is greedy and power-hungry. I swear she is the worst of our kind to have ever existed.”

“No,” I said in a small voice, I was still on the floor staring at the ceiling. “Mother was, undoubtedly so. Margaret was the absolute worst.”

My aunt took in a deep breath before setting herself on the floor beside me. She placed her hand gently on my arm.

“You know she could be lying, right?” She asked.

I shook my head. I had deluded myself long enough, I wasn't going to continue to do so anymore.
