With dreary eyes, I glanced at the wall clock. Oh no. Disappointment shut my eyes and I groaned silently. Time hadn't moved one bit. This was me dying of hunger.

A monstrous growl shot from my stomach. Unsurprisingly, I got a few stares. A few sniggers too. But none of those mattered. A hungry man knew no shame.

With the little strength left, I encouraged myself to hold on. Time would fly if I stopped dwelling on it and gave the lecturer full attention. And so I listened painfully to the boring lecture.

After what seemed like hours, the class ended. I almost gave a fist pump, but there was one more hurdle to cross. My classmates. I had to wait till everyone left the theater. A good number went away, but few decided to frustrate me by hanging around.

I considered pulling out my lunch and eating straight away, but I held back on the thought. I still was that shy, self-conscious girl. Eating in public was just as impossible as having a snowstorm in Florence.
