Chapter 16: Back to Work

I brought my fatigue and anxiety back to New York. I couldn’t sense how Ivor’s threats, which he had for the girl who slept with him last night, affected me until I had a bad dream when I took a nap on the plane.

I could not remember what I dreamed except Ivor. I tried to fall asleep again, but I couldn’t even take sleeping pills.

I did not come to the company immediately after Ivor’s will, but returned to my home, sleeping soundly by the slow effects of sleeping pills.

I woke up in the middle of the night. The first thing I did was fumbled for my phone.

The battery line was yellow, on the screen was a series of incoming calls. I was tired and hungry so I did not care who called me.

I ordered food at a night diner. When I opened the door to pick up the goods, I saw a large box carefully and beautifully packed on my porch.

I checked the sender’s address on the box after I had finished having dinner, and was surprised to see the address of the corporation where I was working.
