Ruby shifted nervously in her seat. The Wyatts were now gone hours ago and she had heard enough with so many questions to ask. She shuffled in Nate’s swivel chair at his den, her hands covered in sweat even with the air conditioning unit turned on.

It was a good thing none of the servants were at home to reduce the drama. She had met the gardener only once but she could tell he was one to run his mouth. The first day they met, he kept eyes on her while shearing the flower beds. She’d also noticed him peeping at her window.

She remembered Nate had said he couldn't make proper friends in highschool because of Taylor, that got her wondering if he wanted to be her friend and Taylor objected to it or if he didn’t just want to have anything to do with a weakling generally.
