Tiny raindrops pelleted the windows while Nate clicked away on his computer. He had lunch alone and returned to work. Ruby had now woken up and went about her day’s business. The sound and smell of the rain and the cold it brought made Nate want to shut his laptop and curl up in bed with Ruby whilst listening to one of her unending stories.

Adam still hadn’t called him, neither did Jake.

Nate stroked his chin, he was now becoming worried. Adam had two phones, one was his regular phone while the other was his emergency phone. He always had his emergency phone and always answered it. Nate had dialed it thrice and there was no answer.

He sighed as he tried to think positively, maybe Adam and Jake were caught up in something important.

Ruby walked in, creating the perfect distraction for him. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she had a bottle of water in her hand. She had just finished her rounds at the gym.
