“What’s the matter Ruby?” Mrs Sonja asked as she rushed to her daughter

Ruby had cried all the way home. She couldn’t remember the last time she went home. The cab driver was coincidentally playing a sad song, she wasn’t the only one who was going through a lot. He didn’t say anything but offered her a box of tissues.

“Come on in honey” Mrs Sonja pulled her to her chest.

She had missed her so much. Even though she now had enough money to adopt a child, she didn’t bother doing it. No child could replace her Ruby. Ruby wasn’t as social as other children, she kept to herself most times and never caused any trouble but she was the best child she could ever ask for. She decided to get a cat to keep her company.

Ruby wrapped her arms around her mother and cried into her shoulders. She found comfort in her mothers familiar floral scent. Asides, the memories of her being bullied and coming home to cry, she didn’t understand why she refused to come home.
