Nate typed away at this computer as the scenario began to loop in his head. If there is anything that he had earned from Ruby, it would be that it was okay to not be okay. It was fine to show emotion and not curl up into his shell when things went wrong. It was almost impossible for him, especially for someone who was dealing with his childhood trauma and was trying not to be a burden to anyone.

He loosened up his tie and continued typing. He wished he could douse his head in a cold bucket of water. The air conditioning was faulty and the maintenance guy was trying to get around the problem. Nate had noticed he couldn’t function properly when there was discomfort. He tried to work but his mind kept going back to Ruby and his forced marriage with Taylor.

Marrying Taylor was the greatest torture Wyatt had brought on him. He would have preferred if he demanded for money or tried to spill death on his name, anything but marry his spoiled daughter.
