CHAPTER EIGHT

I was reading Mister B. Gone by: Clive Barker, a book about Demons, when my sister came in. She was pale, and you could tell that she was crying. “Hey, um, you want to get some pizza?” I smiled weakly, said sure, and put down my book. While we were in town, I looked at Pizza Hut, drooling at how wonderful it would be to taste the sauce on my tongue again. It has been awhile since I have had Pizza Hut, my sister was trying to cut down on us eating out so much.

But my sister didn’t stop.

She kept driving.

I couldn’t believe it. We were passing the pizza place! “Hey, Pizza Hut's back there,” I gestured with my thumb. I looked in the side mirror of the car and saw it going farther and farther in the distance. My sister didn’t bother to look at me as she bit down on her lip.

She sighed and said slowly, “we’re not going out to eat, Tammy. You are going to stay at a hospital where they help teens like you every day with the problems they have. This is what’s best for all of us.”
