Sunlight filtered from the huge window into the room and on his face. This caused Aiden to groan and he tried rolling to the other side of the bed, but the pain that coursed right through him left him paralyzed at a spot.

"You shouldn't move like that." He heard a voice say to him and he opened his eyes to look at Velvet who was staring right at him. She was sitting on the bed, beside where he lain, and she was with a white towel.

She was dressed simply in a linen dress that stopped right at her ankle and her black hair was left to fall over her shoulder. She looked so peaceful, unlike him, who was so troubled.

He tried to sit up but fell back on the bed with a groan, another bout of pain coursing through him and leaving him suddenly dizzy.

"I can't feel my leg," he complained, shutting his eyes tightly as he tried to numb the pain he was feeling all over his body.

"That's because it was broken. But it will get better soon. The salutary said so." Alpha Velvet replied curtly, lean
