Chapter 36

Someone had once said longing could drive a person mad, and Scarlett agreed with whoever said that.

She was alone in a bed where Griffin lived, and she couldn't help wishing he would come to lay beside her. Holding her, caressing her skin, placing small kisses on her round stomach.

Maybe the pregnancy hormones made her emotional, but she wanted to be with Griffin. More than anything. It was hard to get any sleep when all she could think of was the father of her children.

She kept staring into the wall, half-asleep until the door opened and someone walked into her room. The lock clicked, and Scarlett lifted her chin to see Griffin peering down at her.

"I only came to check on you, make sure you're resting," Griffin said and held up a book. "And since I can't stop worrying something happens to you while you're sleeping, I was going to read in the same room. I hope you don't mind."
