Chapter 3

Chapter 3

The sun had begun to rise and I did not know if I should be relieved or more concerned by the fact that I had not gotten us anywhere. My breathing was heavy, my chest rising and falling fast as I am still dragging the fucking bear through the woods.

My body shaking from wanting to give in, I am fighting my legs to continue as they shake due to the over exertion, I had wanted to stop many times but the fear of not being able to move again drove me to continue for as long as my body allowed.

Looking down at the bear I furrow my brows as I thought his arms had injuries to them. I see the chest wound looking as bad as ever and figured I am not remembering correctly, as my ass has been in the air and my head hunched over for what felt like hours, making me hallucinate with the over-flow of blood to my brain and lack thereof in my ass.

I hear a snap and drop the bear legs to the ground with a loud thud and turn to look for the sound, I am still hunched over breathing loudly when I see three very angry looking men coming straight for us.

One had a very large jagged scar across his left eye with sandy blond hair that reached his ears and blue eyes. I force my body upright and back up a little, my eyes straining to stay open as I fight exhaustion. The men look between me and the man on the ground.

The man in the middle being the largest of the three softens his gaze at the sight of me; dirty, exhausted and gasping for air. The man was tall and had a large build much like the bear, he had dark brown hair with blue eyes that held a kindness to them. ‘Scar-face’ kneeled down checking the bear, “ wolfsbane” he says and they turn their eyes on me. I don’t hear the call of fear and decide to stand my ground.

“What the hell are you doing?” The now stupid-looking man on the left asked narrowing his grey eyes at me suspiciously.

What a question…

“ Exercising” I say still catching my breath.

The bigger man snickers along with scar-face. The other glaring at them. Middle man clears his throat and steps forward. “ Could you tell us what happened?” He asked and I nod. I fall to my ass and lean against a tree before giving a short overview of the nights events leaving out anything about my calls. I am not going to a loony bin.

The men just look at one another before moving to pick up the bear and start heading back. They pick him up like he weighs nothing, I feel irritated at the sight and middle man comes over.

“Thank you for helping the … our friend, if you come with us we can help you get back to town.” He said holding out his hand to me.

I get up not taking his hand and he smiles at me devilishly, why are these men so big and good looking? I follow him slowly as my legs had no strength to them, I see him slow his pace as I struggle forward.

He looks back and asks if I was okay, I answer with a quick 'yes' leaning on a tree. He turns to walk ahead when I feel a chill pass over my body, I push off the tree and my sight blackens and my body goes limp falling forward, I expect to feel the impact from the fall but instead am met with the feeling of warmth.

“ It’s fine, you can sleep.” I hear before darkness consumes me.
