Chapter 2 The Fastener Symbol Is Missing

“Serry!” Jovial exclaimed when he saw that Omega, the woman who served as his childhood friend, was already behind the walls of the business lab.

“Oh. Jovial!” cried Serry a little surprised. The beautiful Omega smiled brightly as her best friend gently tugged at her elbow. Her bright-green irises lit up when she found a friend who she considered to be her own older brother, giving a smile as warm as the morning sun. The Omega chuckled sweetly as Jovial ruffled her hair fondly.

“You want to meet, Addy? Go to the business lab, he doesn't have any schedule after this.”

“Really, Addy has no schedule after this?” asked Serry trying to make sure the information from Jovial was correct.

“Yes. It's evening now. Our course was completed two hours ago, and we were just relaxing while doing business practicum tasks,” replied Jovial as his eyes fell on Serry's relieved face in front of him.

Serry's face is getting happier, her smile is getting sweeter when she knows her handsome Alpha is really not busy. “Ah… I finally have time to meet my Alpha.”

“You can spend some time with your Alpha before the university gates close. You must have missed him, right?” Jovial asked while teasing his childhood friend.

Jovial gave a small smile as Serry lowered her head to hide the blush that slowly appeared on her cheeks. Alpha's gaze with emerald green irises shifted to the paper bag that was carried by Serry. His sense of smell could clearly smell the food there. He suspected that his best friend had made food for Addy, and that apparently made a sad smile appear on his stern face.

Of that food, Addy will definitely refuse it like what Alpha often does. And unfortunately, Jovial always accidentally saw that painful scene. Where Serry was crying and then throwing all the food that had been made with difficulty into the trash because Addy refused the food without hesitation and without the slightest sense of guilt.

If Addy wasn't his best friend, he would have made the man's handsome face full of wounds from the blow from him. If only Serry had allowed him to put Alpha at bay, so he wouldn't be. His best friend always asked him at every opportunity not to hurt Addy with classic reasons. Of course because of love and bond.

“Then I'll go inside, Jovial,” said Serry.

Jovial nodded with a small smile again. After that, he took his best friend in his arms and rubbed her back gently.

“I hope Addy doesn't hurt you again.” Jovial said seriously while seeing the reaction of Serry's body, which suddenly stiffened after hearing his words.

“That's not possible. Addy will definitely come back to hurt me again. But it's okay. You don't have to worry, Jovial. Thank you for always caring for me.” Serry smiled then rushed into the business lab.

Jovial let out a low groan, nearly slamming the door to re-enter the business lab, and then slams his fists into Addy's face with a thousand fists. With his arms gripping the hem of the shirt, he was wearing to vent his painful feelings.

Serry took a shaky breath as the door to the business lab room closed. She bit her lower lip hard when she got the male and alluring scent belonging to the Alpha increasingly invaded her sense of smell.

Uncontrollably, her heart beat rapidly like a horse race, realizing that her Alpha was already in the same room as her. Her two retinas blinked slowly, scanning carefully the whereabouts of the fate, who was now putting the book in the bag without realizing her existence.

The bright green irises Omega was silent. Only able to see the sturdy and handsome figure of Alpha in the corner of the room. Exclaiming admiration in the heart to see her soul mate really looks stunning with a long black coat that wraps his tall and sturdy body.

When Addy stood reaching for his backpack, that's when their eyes met. The two different colored irises stared at each other with different contents. Instantly, Serry felt that her heart was thumping with joy at their intertwined gazes. She described the longing she felt in her gaze. She wanted Addy to know that she really missed the Alpha.

The Omega inside her was screaming enthusiastically while dancing around. Told her to immediately approach her Alpha, and Serry did that the next second. The Omega turned to a wide smile, ran towards its owner, and then without hesitation lunged at him with a loving embrace.

Until didn't realize that Addy had sat back in the chair because he wasn't ready for Serry's strong embrace. Making his sturdy thighs as the base for Omega's seat.

“Addy … I miss you,” said Serry quietly. The Omega tightened her arms around the Alpha's neck to vent the longing she felt. Do not forget to keep the bag containing food that she brought on the table that is directly behind Addy's burly back. Serry closed her eyes as she inhaled the male scent that her Alpha had. She could feel that the Omega inside her was cheering for joy because she had her Alpha in her arms right now.

“What are you doing!” said Addy in a flat tone.

The Omega smiled wider, showing that she was indeed feeling happy right now. Serry kissed the Alpha's temple softly. Then mumbled softly, “I already said that I missed you, my Alpha.”

Honestly, Serry hoped that Addy would say the same thing. Expressing the same longing and hugging her back. But, her heart had to throb in pain because the Alpha was just silent and silent. Obviously, not interested in her presence here and did not want a hug from her.

The Omega tried to ignore the throbbing pain in her heart. Holding back the pain that gnawed at her heart by biting hard on her lower lip until a small wound appeared there. She didn't feel her eyelids felt heavy from this rejection. Even after a few seconds had passed, her Alpha just silently ignored her.

Of course Serry Benson, what did you expect? Addy, who hugs you back and, cares about the wound in your heart? Dream because it will never happen.

When the Omega released her arms slowly and turned her face away. She found Addy staring straight ahead. Even the Alpha didn't want to look back at her. That fact really adds to the tear in her heart.

“Addi…”

Serry did not continue her speech because Addy immediately cut her off.

“I have to go.” Addy interrupted Serry's conversation. “I'm not comfortable in the same room with you,” he continued, without thinking about Serry's feelings.

Serry took a shaky breath at the scorching cold tone. She didn't hesitate to look at Addy sadly, while the Alpha still wouldn't look back at her.

Hesitantly, Serry cupped her Alpha's tanned cheeks to ask Addy to look back at her, even if only for a second. The Omega exhaled slowly, grateful that the Alpha would stare back at her, even though with such a cold gleam.

“But, I just came, Addy. Can you not go, and be with me a little longer? Do not you miss me?” asked Serry in a sad tone.

“I don't have time for useless things,” Addy replied.

The Omega froze with its retina bulging at that answer. Feeling that the scratches in her heart are getting wider and wider at the painful words of her Alpha. Serry unconsciously got off Addy's lap and walked backwards. Her weak calf hit the leg of the chair that was right behind her.

“So, my being here is really useless to you? Does that mean you don't miss me at all, Addy? May I speak the truth for now.” Serry closed her eyes as she took a deep breath. “You really hurt my heart,” said Serry with misty eyes.

Addy snorted loudly and then looked away, as if he wasn't concerned about the state of Omega in front of him. Serry turned to sit in a chair with a blank stare fixed on her Alpha who was now looking at the window with a twinkle in embarrassment. His displeasure at being here was really reflected in that gesture.

“My chest feels really tight right now. Every time I hear your words and your refusal, it's as if a dagger has pierced my heart.” Serry again said sadly. She desperately held back the clear liquid that had gathered in her eyelids so that it wouldn't fall on her cheeks. She felt that the Omega inside her had curled up and was crying bitterly in a corner, since her Alpha ignored her and spoke coldly without the slightest sense of guilt.

As if the wound in her heart wasn't enough right now, when her attention was suddenly turned to the Alpha's ring finger, which was not decorated with anything. There should be their engagement ring there, there should be a symbol of their binding there. However, what was she looking at right now? Why didn't Addy wear their engagement ring?

Serry gasped for breath at the painful sight. Her watery retina turned to her Alpha, questioningly. The Omega was filled with disbelief because her soul mate didn't wear their binding ring. It's easy to leave things that should be taken care of. As if the ring meant nothing. It was as if the ring were worth nothing. Noticing the bleary stare from her, Addy suddenly looked back at her with a deep frown on his firm brow.

“Why don't you have our engagement ring on your finger? Did you let it go purposely?” Serry spoke softly, and her voice was hoarse.

While Addy looks normal when Omega in front of him asks where their engagement ring is. The man quickly looked at his ring finger with a flat gaze.

“I forgot where I put the ring. If, I'm not mistaken, I left it in the public bathroom sink and I might have forgotten to leave it there.” Addy answered the angry woman in front of him while clutching his chest in a relaxed manner.

Serry clenched the hem of her shirt when she heard her Alpha speak so easily. “Are you certain that's your reason, Addy? Honestly, if you really don't want to seem attached to me!” cried Serry emotionally.

The Omega sucked in as her Alpha stared at her coldly. However, this time something was stored in the blue retina as deep as the ocean, and she could see it obviously. Apart from the chunks of ice, there was a spark of anger drawn there. Apparently, her sarcasm had made the Alpha angry.

“I just forgot to put it back on when I put it on the sink, so why are you overreacting like this, Serry Benson!” Addy screamed until his voice echoed through the silent business lab room. “How old are you, for such a trivial matter to be brought up. How childish, tcih!”

Serry looked down deeply at her Alpha's scream. Those cold and emphatic words managed to make her heart ache a lot. The fragile Omega closed her eyes as she squeezed her ten fingers. She let the tears that had been building up in her eyes fall down her cheeks. She was in pain at the blatant reproach and anger of her Alpha.

“Yes. I was childish because I was afraid that you would take off our engagement ring. The ring should be guarded carefully because the ring is a symbol that has the meaning of our binding,” explained Serry.

“Hmm,” Addy mumbled.

“Is that how worthless I am in your eyes, Addy. So that you let go of our binding ring so easily?” Serry felt weak and breathless after releasing her restlessness.

Addy's jaw tightened in tension as well as his unfriendly gaze staring at the floor he was stepping on. Serry guessed that Addy was furious right now. Maybe Alpha was offended by Omega's words. Serry knows very well that her Alpha character is temperamental.

“Talk about it, huh? When it's done, I'll go.” Addy stood up from his seat. However, his steps were stopped when his strong arms were held by Serry's tiny hands.

“Where are you going?” Omega's face was already filled with tears. However, her hands quickly wiped away the tears on her swollen face.

Addy paid no heed to Omega's question, and slapped the hand away from his stout arm. However, Serry immediately stepped forward to block Alpha's move.

“I'm sorry, Addy. Please — don't be angry like this. My heart hurts as well as the Omega inside me who is now crying sadly. It's better if you speak coldly and ignore me than get angry like this.”

“I am not angry. So, get out of my sight. Right now!” Addy shouted angrily.

“Again, I'm sorry if my question offended you. I'm just afraid you took off our engagement ring on purpose. I won't ask again if you don't like it. But can you stay with me a little longer,” said Serry pleadingly.

“Yes. That's what I want. Next time don't ask about small things because I don't like it. And now I'm rushing because I have to work. Can you understand how busy I am, Serry Benson!”

Serry bit her lower lip back at that answer. She felt that her chest cavity was getting tighter now. She knew that Addy had more than one odd job after class ended. That's why Alpha is always busy every day until their time together becomes limited.

However, can Addy understand herself as well at this time? Can the Alpha read what she feels, that she wants to spend time together because of longing because she hasn't seen each other for a long time. Can't Addy give up his job for herself like what other Alphas do for their partner?

“But, I still miss you and want to spend more time with you. I also made a lot of food for you. I …”

“I can't neglect my job because it's been three days since I've been absent from work. And for that food, you just eat it because I'm not hungry.”

Serry snorted at those words. Addy turned to stare, while her watery retina stared at her Alpha in silence. She wanted Addy to know if the rejection he gave for the umpteenth time had really hurt her, and made the scratches in her heart deeper. Omega was silent as Addy pushed her arm around the man's wrist without hesitation.

She was only silent when suddenly her Alpha lowered his head slightly to kiss her forehead, before hastily removing the long black coat he was wearing. When Addy was about to sling the coat over her shoulders, she intended to refuse. However, her body that seemed powerless turned to freeze. So, she let Addy sling his coat over her trembling little shoulders.

“Put that coat on, if you would rather not be cold,” Addy said.

The Alpha passed through Serry's body. Leaving Omega alone with the loud thud of the business lab room door deafening. Serry shifted her body that felt powerless in the chair while staring blankly at the floor.

A few seconds later, heart-wrenching cries were heard in every corner of the business lab. Serry sobbed loudly, not hesitating to cry to vent her hurt feelings. She couldn't stand the pain she was in alone.

Her breath hitched painfully, as well as her chest, that rose and fell irregularly. Omega turned to stand up from her seat, stepped hastily towards the table where her homemade food was stored there. Serry didn't hesitate to throw her lunch box on the floor, so the contents scattered there. There's no point in making the food with great effort, even though eventually the Alpha will refuse it again and again.

Serry looked at the food with her sobs and then slumped on the floor. In the next second, the Omega was hugging her knees with her head sunk there. Omega cursed herself for not being able to hate Addy at all, even though the Alpha continued to add to the wound in her heart.
