Chapter 23RUBINWe spent the rest of the day, arranging flowers and sorting out the roses and the other flowers for a wedding. Vivian offered me meal after meal and I couldn’t refuse her offer for I am famish–having to suffer no lunch and dinner yesterday. Twice I volunteered to deliver flowers at The Chateau, hoping to catch a glimpse of Caelum but he is nowhere. I wondered the streets , walked down the park and even asked Vivian to let me buy food at Tres Bien Pastry shop but he isn’t there either. The week was done and before I knew it, only a couple of arrows remains inside my quiver. Thoughts of him occasionally slips in my mind and it’s the reason why I’m having trouble focusing on my job. I just like to drift off and imagine how the days would go if I spent everyday with him. Will he take me to the plaza and eat some pasta again? Maybe we will go places too…My thoughts drifted back to the incident and unwillingly, I touched my lips – his lips are so soft and gentle when h
Chapter 24CAELUM“I don’t understand!” I rolled my eyes at Aeon as he throws the book down on the table, lying down on the earth–his platinum blond hair in contrast with the dark soil, his purple eyes squinted as he looks up at the cloudless sky. Birds squawked as they fly up the clouds, startled of Aeon’s loud voice as he disturbed the silence only the field can provide for me. I continued harvesting the roses I will place next to the lilies, choosing a light blue porcelain vase to put it in. “There ought to be something–anything! I mean, there should be a connection, a clue as to why this is all happening, I can’t–”“Aeon, don’t you have anything in mind that you should do rather than pestering me? I am pretty sure there is more things that could entertain you rather than- ”“I am not pestering you, I am merely pointing out certain things that I consider–dodgy...”“Aeon, you are delving into things that are ought to not be thought so much about, get on with it already and have yo
Chapter 25CAELUMBut I didn’t hear what he has to say as I stepped back, bumping into someone. Blinking, I turn around, noticing my front door at The Chateau as it remain wide open while someone is crouched next to it, screaming, “No please, don’t!”The red hair is noticeable anywhere she opted to appear. I take a tentative step and ask, “Rubin?”Rubin looks up from her crouched form and pushed her bushy red hair back, making it even more wilder than before. She stands up, “Oh, Caelum!” she rushes at me, hands outstretched. Before I notice what she is doing, her hands were around my neck and she is holding to me tightly, shaking like a leaf. I let her cling unto me, her feet high up as she straddled my waist. “Rubin–”“Oh! Sorry...” She lets go of my neck and stand on her feet. Staring down on my hands, her eyes zeroed at the flowers I am still holding. “Is that for me?” I glared at her, my lips forming into a frown as I listened to her next words, “It doesn’t suit you, give it to m
Chapter 26RUBINMy lips tingled as I glared at his back, pulling my robes. I raised my hand only to stop–Nope! I won’t wipe it. I smiled and tried to stop myself from giggling. “Oi!”Caelum turns at me and I hide my smile with the flower, making him frown. He takes my arm and dragged me up the hill, revealing the beautiful view of the field around us, “Wow!” Caelum’s lips pull from the side as he smirked, letting go of my arm as he shuffled back at the table, snatching some scissors and gloves, “Who plant all these flowers?”He raised a delicate eyebrow at my question before smirking once again, “No one but I, silly. Do you expect anyone else?” He boasted, snapping the glove on his hand. “That’s impossible. I mean, how can you plant all these flowers? There is so many of them!” “Years and years of cultivating, and a lot of patience, of course.” “This is majestic, even grander than any of the garden I saw. I mean, it’s a field of flowers with different variations! How is that pos
Chapter 27“Then why did you egged him on if you knew he’s bound to act like that?” I asked, swiftly avoiding the glare directed on my way as I explored my new surroundings, not waiting for his reply. The fountain was consisted of hundred little cherubim placed next to each other, arrows in their hands and at their point, water flows out creating little splashes on the pond below. I slowly walked around the fountain and came face to face with an ancient wooden door, intricate design and symbols surrounding the golden knocker which was also fashioned into a little cherubim whose hands are bound; Wide windows framed the front while the russet tiles on the floor reflected the harsh sunlight. “This is like a castle,”“It is, but we call it, Autahvuwns Manor,” Aeon mused before marching up the door. He motioned for me and I followed him, a step away. Aeon’s hands lingered over the golden handles, his hands skimming the cherubim as he hesitated. “Why are you not opening it?“I am afraid o
Chapter 28I walked closer to where Caelum stands, noticing his blood shot eyes, his black travelling cloak shimmering with golden dust, his dark brown curls glinting as the dust fell from them. I glanced down to see him holding some flowers in his hands. He inclined his neck to the side, blinking his eyes before he held out his hand, letting the flowers float around me, magically suspended as though it was held by some twine. I am still shocked at how the flowers float around me that when he speaks, I jumped slightly for his voice is full of sadness, “This is an act of responsibility for I have willingness to become better. Humans call it an apology,” His sad stormy eyes stared at me with remorse, yet his face remains emotionless and handsome. I took the flowers one by one and asked, “What’s this flower?” “Hyacinth,” he gave me a small smile before dragging himself out of the room, his form weary . I caressed the flower, settling down on the chair. I pushed the curtain slightly
Chapter 29CAELUMMy head felt like it is splitting in two. I breathe out, trying to shield my face with my hand only to let it out, grinding my knuckles on my forehead as I groaned. I stared up at my reflection as the great circular mirror looms above me – My hair sticks out in every direction imaginable as though I have been electrocuted by lightning. I sat up and blinked for a couple of times to get rid of the blurriness brought by a couple of hours of sleep, startled when certain visions flashed beneath my eyelids. “Whoa! What was that?” I threaded my fingers on my hair and tried to pat them back into place, “What did I –?”I saw myself holding out a hyacinth flower to Rubin, saying, “An act of responsibility for I have willingness to become better; humans call it an apology,” I watched as the hyacinth flower floated around her, making me slap my forehead at the memory as the scene shifted. She was looking down at me, her eyes worried. Where are we? I gaze at my surroundings
Chapter 30CAELUMThe field dissolves back to the front doors of the Manor, the gloomy sky looming above us. I pushed open the door and quickly headed to the kitchen, my thoughts still in disarray as I snatched a bottle of water from the fridge. “Oh! You’re here…I am about to finish.” Rubin stated as she stirred the pan and tossed the egg on a plate. I settled down on a seat and observed her as she makes her way to where I am sitting. “Here!” I was surprised when she gave me a cloud shaped sunny side up.“I taught her how to do that. I’m glad she easily caught up with everything. ” Aeon mused, nodding at his student who is smiling wide.“Great to know you are being fond of her.” I stated at him before poking the egg with my fork, a little bit dubious. After deciding that the egg is not harmless, I gave it a little bite and take some toast from the centre of the table, spreading raspberry jam on it. “Food here on earth is just brilliant! I haven’t tried all of these and I intend to
