Chapter One hundred-Seven

Eve agreed with a nod. She pressed her handbag to her tummy and strode out of the restaurant. Henry hurried after her. She was marching toward the highway in a bid to hail a cab.

"Eve!" Henry called out to her.

She lowered her stretched right hand and turned toward him with a quirked brow. She could feel the effect of the sun on her face.

Henry rushed toward her and waved the little plastic that held his car key to her face. "Can I drop you off?"

Eve faked a smile. "It's not necessary sir."

She had concluded that henceforth there will be no lifts, rides or long conversations with Henry. This way, she will get over him. She made a promise to her mother and this promise she must keep.

Henry turned to stare at his sports car which was parked in front of the restaurant. He darted his gaze to the highway.

"Look, Eve. There's no cab coming through. The whole place is dry and the sun is not smiling." he pointed out.
