The Color of the Night Sky

All nerves and anxiety, dressed in my favourite purple floral gown, I walked into the skyscraper marked Laurent's Inc. in gold, the size of the building adding to my fastly diminishing self esteem. The woman at the front desk, placed a serene smile on her face, as she noticed me walking up to her, probably sensing my timidness.

"Good day, how may I help you?", the lady asked, her golden brown hair packed away from her face in an uptight bun, her red lipstick complementing her green dress, as she smiled.

"Hi", I responded, still trying to gather my wits around me and showed her the card I had been given last night.

"Lab is on floor 30", she replied automatically, glancing at the card, the smile still plastered on her face before pointing me in the direction of the elevator. Thanking her, I walked to the elevator, wondering how many floors the building housed and how many people worked in it. Pressing the number 30 on the elevator keypad, I relaxed against the wall as the elevator ascended, assuring myself that I wasn't dreaming, that I really was going to be working for the King of Vampires.

The elevator pinged, indicating level 30 and the doors swooshed open, the pristine marble tiled floor glinting from the numerous white light reflected on it. Stepping out of the elevator and walking numbly to where I didn't know, the hallway filled with unmarked doors. Confused as hell, I walked on, my heels clicking against the tiles, getting towards the end of the hallway, before I encountered the receptionist desk, facing the endless blue sky of Moon City, the insignificant busy street below a testimony to how high up I was. Finding the desk area empty, I smoothed my gown and glanced nervously around, a moment or two later, after I had decided to start knocking on all the doors down the hallway until someone answered me, heels clicked hurriedly towards me and a mortified and disoriented woman came up at me.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting", the lady said, her cheeks turning the same shade as her hair.

I smiled to lessen her apprehension, "I didn't wait long". "Thank you for saving me from the embarrassment I was about to put myself through", I added silently.

The lady, probably a little older than me, entered behind the huge desk and brought out a file, the lack of a daylight ring and the obvious lack of fangs as she smiled shyly, showed she was human. Muttering something under her breath, she asked for my name, and began searching for it in the file once I had given it to her.

"You're not registered on this floor, ma'am", The lady uttered politely, glancing up from the file for the third time. "It seems there's been a confusion", she relayed and I was tempted to throw back a sarcastic reply as I stared at her, frowning in confusion.

"You're registered on the top floor, level 40", she confirmed,

Following her instructions after learning her name was Lanie, I got on the elevator again, inputting 40. The door opened to reveal a place more austere than the floor I had just left. Staring in awe, I made my way to the desk which faced the elevator, a man smiling demurely at me. And weirdly they all had the same smiles, totally creepy. The man's black hair gleamed as did everything about his appearance from what I could see.

"Miss, we've been expecting you", He announced cheerfully, short of encompassing me in a hug.

"You shouldn't have let me wander about then", I mumbled, thanking whatever above he hadn't heard me. My head began to pound as a sweet, seductive scent overtook the air in my nostrils and surrounded me, sending shivers down my nerves as my body stood at attention, my nipples pebbled against my bra. The harbinger of my ordeal stepped out of the elevator, a minute later, by the time I was sure I was drooling. A golden Adonis walked towards where I was standing, his ocean blue eyes and golden strawed hair, all radiating an intensified presence, the smell of sex and lavender reaching me. Stopping in front of me, the Adonis flashed a smirk, highlighting his fangs.

"You must be Dalia. Come with me", he said and walked off, leaving me staring and speechless. Snapping to my senses, I quickly followed, finding him two strides ahead, with me barely trying to catch up. His walk was confident, the walk of someone who had the world at his fingertips and all the female panties in his nose. He opened a door marked X, three doors away from the elevator and receptionist area and gestured for me to enter. Machines whirring and beeping reached my ears before I cautiously stepped into the room, the computers lined up straight as I touched them, my hands unable to stop myself. The small office area held two desks and I looked up at the Adonis to find him watching me, creepily.

"My office, I assume", I voiced out, the excitement sneaking into my voice.

"Goodie, you're a smart one", the mini god retorted, rounding one of the desks to sit, propping his leg up.

"I'm not a one", I threw back snarkily, before going to the computer area, which was cut off by a sliding glass door. "What's this place?", I asked, loudly over the cacophony of noise.

"I can hear you, even if you whisper", the Adonis said from behind me and I crashed into the wall, startled. He smiled elegantly as I stared at him in horror.

"I'm Claude. Nice to meet you", Claude said, exposing his fangs.

Mumbling something under my breath, before I remembered his previous warning and I looked up in time to see his eyes flash and a smirk form on his lips.

"Well, I won't bore you with formalities and the likes", Claude began, when we left the computer space back to the desk. "You already know why you're here", he added with a skeptical look, a 'don't you?' quirked on his brows and I wanted to smack the shit.

"Yes", I replied, a moment later.

"Good", he continued, inspecting his nails. "As you know, Laurent's Lab is way down from here, but you're here on special invitation", Claude said, mumbling something under his breath. Picking the words, 'damn' and 'babysitter', I jerked up when the smell of sex and lavender filled the room, my breath coming out in pants as the scent intensified. Eyeing a grinning Claude as the scent diffused from his body, I gritted my teeth, feeling my panties get soaked as I gripped the desk.

"You're strong", Claude commented, the scent going away. "Most of your kind would have been humping me by now".

"Am I to work with you everyday?", I muttered.

"Of course", Claude grinned. "You're to suffer the torment of seeing my beautiful face everyday".

"Can you not repeat whatever it is you just did?", I asked meekly, my head whirling at the amount of control I had placed on my body.

"I'm a sex vamp, baby girl", Claude countered, his voice taking on a friendly lilt "it's as vital as breathing". "But for your human sake, I'll try to tone it down". The prolonged try was not lost on me.

"Why do you hate humans so much?", I asked after a while of silence.

"Who said I do?"

"You've condescended me for being human thrice.", I answered, powering up the computer on my desk, the desk I claimed as mine.

"I have?", Claude asked rhetorically with a dramatic gasp for side effect.

I stared at him blandly and he giggled. He literally giggled like a young school girl.

"I don't hate your kind. I just don't like y'all", he said, his accent changing again.

----------------------------------------------------------

Throwing my total concentration into the task ahead of me, I read the employee handbook file uploaded to my computer twice and went down another 20 or so floors to HR to process my employment. By the time lunch rolled in, my brain was fried. Glancing at Claude who was totally glued to his computer, a question popped up in my head

"Why don't you have a daylight ring?"

Sighing, Claude ignored me, jibing me to ask again.

"Because I don't need one", he replied after my third time asking.

"Why wouldn't you need a daylight ring? That's not possible", I puzzled.

"It is. Now unlike you, some of us have work to do". With that, he shut me off briskly and glared at his computer.

Seven came by quickly, when I was deep in research, signaling the close of work. My body felt like a log of wood, my head pounding from staring at a computer for hours upon end. Groaning, I got up, stretching my limbs, I looked over at Claude's place to find it empty, amazed once again by his stealth. I packed up my things, my file on my project going into my bag as I exited the office. The elevator stopped at floor 30 on its descent down, letting other people in and I crammed myself close to the edge as it trodded down in silence, people preferring to look down at their phones than converse. I would have done the same, if I could have reached for my phone in the tight space.

Hopping out as the elevator came to a stop, I collided into a small body, my things clattering to the ground as I found myself on the floor. It was Lanie, from floor 30. After assuring her severally that I was okay and after several attempts to dissuade her, I followed her into the cocktail bar two blocks down from Laurent's Inc. Ordering a 'sex on the beach' and a magerita from the bartender, Lanie faced me from her bar stool, her red hair spilling out from her bun.

"How was first day?", She asked cheerfully, her light voice soothing.

"My partner is an ass", I claimed dryly, causing Lanie to laugh.

"That's quite normal. Although I don't know of any office requiring the assistance of partners on the top floor", she stated, taking a sip of her drink.

"What's your partner's name?"

"Claude", I provided and Lanie stared at me in shock, asking me if I was sure.

Replying in the affirmative, Lanie let out a "Wow", before continuing in her unbelief, "You're sure it was Claude, golden hair and ocean blue eyes?"

Nodding, I sipped my drink, wondering what all the fuss was about. Not surprised that my partner's notoriousness and asshole ways were well known.

"You really must be special", Lanie said after a while, finally getting over her shock.

I scoffed, "what's so special about my snarky partner?"

"Claude is one of the five", she breathed out in awe, looking at me like I had a halo on my head.

"The five?", I asked, totally confused and lost.

"How much do you know of the vampires and their world?", Lanie threw back. Shaking my head in the negative, she sighed and mumbled "totally clueless then"

"The five are St. Laurent's handmen, his close allies, the people that do his dirty work", Lanie explained, full on whispering now.

Scrunching my nose up in disgust at someone who would need people to do his dirty work, I waited for her to continue.

"They pledged to him in loyalty and now they're all linked to him by blood", she finished, like one would the ending of a happily ever after novel.

"So you're saying that Claude, my partner, is one of the five?", I asked for clarity, all the mumbo jumbo she had said connecting in my head.

"Yes", she nodded gaily.

"No wonder he didn't need a d ring", I muttered to myself. He was smug.

Downing the rest of my drink, I scanned the relatively empty bar and missed PALAD, the easy flow of customers there was a thing to be studied. Reminiscing my memories there as I gazed around the bar, my eyes caught on a dimly lit corner of the bar and my hair stood on its end, my nerves jumping. Someone was there, someone with their eyes on me. Feeling overwhelmed, I motioned to Lanie that it was getting late, we said our goodbyes and we parted.

Highlighting the bus, I put my hand in my purse and gripped the taser, the events of that night playing in my head as I walked hurriedly down the street to my house. The flickering headlights and the car in the garage revealed that my dad was home already, I entered the house quietly, exhaustion coating my bones. Not bothering to alert him of my presence, I made my way upstairs to my room and dropped down on my bed, allowing sleep to claim me.

--------------------------------------------------------

The smell of chocolate, decadently sweet as sin dark chocolate wafted through the air, teasing my senses as a soft hand caressing my body lightly came to rest above my clitoris, tormenting me. My body curved, seeking and finding, as the hand moved again, this time to my right breast, kneading and toying with my nipple, my other breast crying for attention. Raising my hand to relieve myself from the torment, lips closed in on my nipple and bit gently, my body arched slightly and a trepid moan left my mouth. My hands got pinned violently to the bed, a growl sounding in my ears and my tormentor's hand moved to my mound, slowly drawing his finger down to part my clitoris, his lips running a marathon on my breasts, suckling from one to the other, like a man starved. Fighting, I squirmed, my body aching for release as his fingers toyed with my clit, his thumb separating my folds as he inserted two fingers, slowly at first, my juices granting him easy access, my high steadily building by the swift playing of his fingers as he thrust them in and out, the lapping sounds of my wet pussy and the smell of sex feeling the air. I cried out, riding his fingers as much, my hands still pinned, my nerves strung tight in anticipation of release when all together the feeling ceased, leaving me hanging from my high. I tore open my eyes, and stared into eyes the colour of the night sky. I blacked out.
