The Menacing Anger of Jacob St. Laurent

Attorney Jim Toole was not in his office, so we were heading to his home in the heart of the city.

Driving at a blinding speed, I held the seat belt to my chest as Claude drove past stoplights in his red Audi, winding past cars like a maniac as he throttled on.

"I think the whole point is to be alive by the time we get there", I gritted out as Claude took an unplanned swerve, causing me to hit my head against the windowpane and I winced, turning to glare at Claude.

The smug bastard shrugged and took another unplanned swerve, "We need to get there if we are hoping to prevent another casualty".

I sat back, he was right.

The ambulance had whisked Judge Locke's body away and the police had locked off his office as a crime scene, but not before I grabbed all the papers, the ones that looked substantial and stuffed them into my tote.

I had shown Claude the note and his eyes had deepened in their depths with a ferociousness.
