No one was breathing, literally, the place was so still, everyone's attention turned to the confrontation happening at the door.

It was Thursday.

He wasn't meant to be here until Saturday where a feast was being planned for him.

"I thought I would surprise my only nephew", his voice sounded gruff. The voices burly people carried. Not a single weak link in it.

"Seems you left the front door open so I let myself in", the man laughed heartily.

And I winced.

That was a terrible joke and everyone seemed to think so.

No one laughed or moved.

"Trouble in paradise?", The man asked with a delicate arch to an eyebrow of his.

I spied Jacob's face grow grim for a minute before hardening into a mask of indifference.

"I wasn't expecting you till the weekend", Jacob countered. "Do pardon me for being off for a bit".

"Always expect the unexpected from me", Jacob's uncle gruffly retorted, before moving into the mini conference room, his eyes landing on the potty senator before moving to mine.
