Chapter 62

When Selene faded from sight, I stood and walked into the house. As soon as I stepped in, I could smell my favorite scent (besides that of my mate, of course) … bacon! I walked into the kitchen, refilled my coffee and asked my grandma, “Anything I can do to help?” She smiled, “Today is your special day. You sit and take it easy. I can take care of all the cooking. You have enough to think about today.” I smiled, “Thank you, grandma. You have no idea how much I love you for this.” Grandma chuckled, “Of course, I do.”

As I sat down, I put my chin in my hands and prop my elbows on the island, “I’m pretty nervous about this whole thing. Not just the ceremony. I’m worried about mass casualties. I don’t want anyone dying for me.” Grandma nodded, “I understand how you feel, hon. But you need to know that if anyone does die, it’s because they chose to do so. It doesn’t matter which side they are dying for.” I nodded in agreement and smiled, “You always seem to know what makes me feel better.
