Hell

Austin had his hand protectively around me when I woke up, the early morning sun from the window we'd mistakently left open landing on my face. It wasn't uncomfortable though and despite mtself, I smiled.

I turned around in Austin's arms, my fingers slightly grazing his cheek. He looked tired, and he was a little pale. Apart from that, he still looked the same. Just that his face was one I couldn't bring myself to get used to. Every single time I saw him, I felt different, new and the rush of emotions were just as turbulent as the first.

"Good morning," he mumbled, but didn't open his eyes.

"You feel like a baby when you sleep." I said, still touching his face.

He chuckled. "That baby needs to get up."

I knew why. Eve's funeral. He had to finish preparing it so she can be cremated this evening. I swallowed and touched him again, my smile now a little sad.

"You know...I would have preferred to stay in bed a little while longer."
