My Fated Pair

The Heiress conducted a quick assessment of the situation and immediately understood what was going on, it was not strange that the sea issued then conducted the death sentence over the men.

‘I cannot communicate with the fire’

Whatever was going on aboard that sinking ship, it was not a natural occurrence, it has got to have happened because of something that men have created.

Nymphs were superior beings when it came to the world that naturally existed around mortals, but when it had something to do with technology and the inventions the humans came up with, the nymphs fell way behind, they did not need to understand the things that were not natural, and so, there was no way for Amalthea to fully comprehend what went wrong with whatever that was threatening to turn the men’s ship into ashes.

One thing was for sure, that thing was not fire.

The winter wind intervened implying that a trick might have been involved, the men could be scheming to land over Paradise with the aid of the nymphs themselves, a plan that the devils among men could have come up with wickedly. Amalthea could not refute the possibility of a well-calculated deception on the men’s part but what she could tell is that the men’s fear for their lives was real, she could feel the life force starting to slip away from three out of the four men who had already fallen into the depths of the sea.

There was something else she was feeling as well.

It was the melody that she had not heard of before, though she firmly believed there was nothing left in this mortal world for her to discover, amid everything else that was happening way below the skies, the realization came to her, the music was played by her inner energy, her most primitive spiritual call.

She was calling for the one that can complete her, playing a melody she had misunderstood to have been heard from afar, that one unique man that never came once in her many lifetimes, her pair, that man was right there.

He was aboard the sinking ship.

Her instinct begged and screamed for her to allow the men’s mortal eyes to see her spirit form, she could easily evaporate the sea that threatened her pair then. But her sense of responsibility towards the uncountable creatures that took shelter in the ignorant sea stopped her.

She needed to act fast.

Amalthea switched over from her spirit form to her human one, if she had stayed in her spirit form, she would have risked the possibility of bringing more fear into the hearts of men and driving them to jump to their certain death. She descended as fast as she could with the aid of the winter wind surrounding her human form, which was significantly heavier now until she was but a few gushes away from the drowning men.

She whispered to the near waves.

“Discard the orders of the sea and hand over the men to my wind at once.”

The waves whimpered again for being stuck in the middle between two much heavier forces they could not take on even if they wanted to, Amalthea had no time to reason with the waves, so she went with threatening them instead.

“If you continue, I shall evaporate you into becoming more wind between my fingers.”

Not wanting to change the shape of their life force, the waves succumbed to the command of the heiress, pushing the four men with whom they were battling to the surface. The winter wind took a hold of their bodies.

It was a magnificent view.

The men aboard the ship that was being eaten by the flames stopped running, awestricken by the naked woman except for the storm blurring the middle of her body out of their vision, she had perfect porcelain skin and the darkest shade of black hair, she was hanging in thin air as if standing gracefully on solid ground with one foot slightly up.

Like a beautiful flamingo.

She was pulling the men who were drowning seconds ago with an invisible force, she had them hanging like dolls stitched to invisible threads. Three of the four men got dumped aboard the ship again, coughing hard to get precious air into their water-filled lungs, while the last man was pulled much closer to her, as they both froze right there, midair.

“The president! Save the president!”

Amalthea heard the other men calling her beloved a strange name, or was it what he did in life?

It did not matter right now, her dark dark eyes that have the shade of her hair color when she is in her human form were getting to know the living breathing miracle that was her pair, she could not bring herself to look at his details just yet, she was only trying to get accustomed to the way her inner energy danced inside of her in his presence, his magnetic field seemed disoriented to her.

‘It must have been frightening to have almost drowned.’

She whispered to the water inside his lungs, and she was ecstatic with the fact that there was none. She only remembered about the sinking ship that was still burning when he suddenly looked its way.

“WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR MEN? FIRE THE NETS! CAPTURE THE ENEMY’S SCOUT! CAPTURE THE REBEL!”

Nets came flying by like the moths of an eclipse from multiple directions, they looked like giant spider webs.

Needless to say that none of them could begin to even approach Amalthea, the winter wind blew them off, one after the other, right back to the burning ship. The heiress heard her man who was called ‘the president’ as he named her a rebel and an enemy’s scout, she was highly aware of the command he gave his men to attack her.

‘So this is the course of nature.’

Amalthea contemplated seriously. Any other nymph would have been devastated by the betrayal of one’s other self, and the mirror to their spirit, but Amalthea stood tall and thoughtful.

The dark dark eyes of her human form were watching her pair’s alluring lips as they were shouting more hurtful commands to his men from where he stood midair, she knew too well that they were more orders meant to encourage the men to do a better job at capturing her, regardless of how impossible that notion was.

‘He just does not know any better, humans can be taught.’

She found her ears blocking out his lines.

Though her consciousness was making up excuses for her pair, her spirit mourned his incredulous behavior that was disappointing, all she had for him was instant factual love, he was her one and only pair.

‘I will guide him to me.’

With more and more nets bouncing off by means of the loyal wind, she found her inner energy ecstatic again, admiring his persistence against the ridiculous task of holding her captive against her own will.

It was the second time he showed her strength.

She admired the evident physical abilities he possessed, having combatted with the waves that were out to take his dear life and then came out unscratched.

‘My pair is unique as well, we are the perfect fit.’

In the few mortal seconds that had passed since the two froze midair, Amalthea had put together an impeccable plan: plain, simple, and result oriented.

‘Be it months, be it years, this gorgeous man will be mine.’

She was going to spare no means to that end, because one thing she knew too well about humans was that against all the odds of nature, they were always capable of having a change of heart.

The shift in her pair’s stance had her unblocking her ears again to give him her full attention.

“...TS YOU USELESS BUNCH OF LOSERS! TRAINED MONKEYS WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE USEFUL TO ME THAN YOU! OBSERVE WELL HOW IT IS DONE!”

Judging by his statement and the movement of his bone and muscle tissues, her brave pair was about to use the wind around him as a buffer and attempt to personally capture her, undoubtedly, in his mind, he believed that he can knock them both to the board of the ship.

‘My beloved is so adorable, come to me, my fated one.’
