They Grow Up So Fast

Phosphorus and Hesperus had been sleeping for four days.

It was not natural for immortal children to sleep that extra mortal day.

Amalthea and Arethusa stood anxiously by the crib of the immortal children. Both babies looked the size of a one-year-old human baby. Apart from the striking opposite hair color the babies had, their features were almost the same.

“Beautiful,” Amalthea said as she brushed Phosphorus’s white hair away from his forehead. Then she brushed the back of her hand over Hesperus’s black hair.

“Of course they are, they look exactly like you, darling,” Arethusa whispered.

“But mother, why do they insist on sleeping for so long?” Amalthea asked her mother, starting to get more anxious by the mortal second now.
