Chapter 04

Edward shifted his gaze to his mom and thereafter took a seat beside Melissa making her curious as to why he suddenly acted like he didn't know her. But when she looked at his fist, she saw that he had tightened it roughly and his veins were visible both on his hands and forehead.

" son, shouldn't you apologize for gracing your presence this late" He heard his mom's voice and disclosed his tightened fist.

" My sincere apology, Do accept it" Edward spat in utmost disgust making Melissa scoffs silently while rolling her eyes.

" When the devil lies" She uttered within the confine of her mind and snatched a fork from the table, settling for a bite of what laid before her. Down to her throat food went. It felt disgusting, though the meal had a unique taste, melissa could tell it only felt awful because the devil himself kept smiling and leaning closer to her.

" I'm all done, may I be excused for a moment, no pardon may we be excused for a moment?" Her voice sounded with hidden anger which she tried not to let know. Edward would have refused to tag along with her, not until Melissa turned back and glared at him furiously while clenching her fist. Her jaws hit each other, and she kept biting her lower lips to refrain from doing anything stupid mainly because of her mom.

" Then, excuse us" He cleared his throat and stood up on his feet following behind her while leaving a dirty smirk on the left side of his lips. Melissa halted and turned back to look at him, with arms folded and crossed together.

" spill whatever you have to say, I don't have all time to stare at you pretty". Edward wouldn't dare openly admit to her charm, even though he knew deep down she had an extremely beautiful look. He hated her, deep down to his bones he hated her so much, and while he stared at her, at the same time he wanted to have her on the same bed with him immediately. The anger, curiosity, and fright were killing him while he glared at her with disgust and awe.

" Do you enjoy seeing me suffer this much? This must make you happy right, satisfied.....without even thinking if you ruined my perfect little life, the perfect little life I enjoyed so much even though it wasn't perfect" Melissa confessed trying not to let her emotions get the better part of her while holding back the tears that were threatening to fall from her eyes.

" you can't just have anything because you want it. I know you don't want this marriage as much as I also don't want it. Please right now, you have all the power to stop it, so please help me stop it".Even though Melissa hated herself for pleading with the man she hated so much, she also preferred that, to getting married to him. Her life was about to become shattered and she just couldn't sit back and watch herself being dragged into a loveless marriage.

Edward scoffed when the tear fell off from her eyes, he took two steps closer, to her and used the pad of his thumb to touch the lower part of her lips.

" I don't want to" His voice was fierce and his eyes turned bloody red when he uttered this. It was like there was not a single trace of emotion in his eyes and the will to make her suffer for no reason was so visible in his eyes.

"It is your unlucky fate for being born into a wealthy and greedy family thirsty, for more power and wealth." His words were the most hurtful Melissa had ever heard, well she didn't expect anything better from him fully aware of his true identity.

" Why are you doing this to me, why me?"She yelled back at him with an urge to hold his neck tight and strangle him but not till he dies. At least Melissa wanted him to feel pain, just a little bit of it.

" Do you think I want this, you're just as disgusting to me as that of a pile of trash being marched upon, so watch your mouth and remain shut till the wedding ends".

His words finally got Melissa irritated as she also took two steps closer to him.

" Don't you ever call me that, who the hell do you think you are ". She whispered " Do you think you're that great or powerful, you're also a piece of used and dirty trash"

Melissa gulped down the rest of her words when he held her wrist so hard that it was beginning to hurt her. Their bloody eyes were fixed on each other without blinking or drifting their gaze, and the more Melissa looked the more she was beginning to lose her breath.

" You will suffer, I'll make sure of that. You're gonna tear up so much that it will hurt. So bad that you're gonna take your life and regret ever crossing paths with a man like me."

His threat wasn't supposed to get Melissa scared as she knew they might all be empty, but for a reason, she felt scared. The look in his eyes showed that he was damn serious and it scared the hell out of Melissa.

" Take my own life?"Melissa questioned herself within the confine of her mind without taking her gaze away from his. Though she was so frightened, but she also had to do something too, or rather say something too.

" You can't do anything, I swear to God you can do nothing to me". The boldness which was lost seconds ago suddenly came back, this time in full force and willing.

In anger, Edward forcefully lifted her left hand. " You must be crazy right?" He questioned with a killing glare like he wanted to strangle her.

" I'm gonna let the whole world know who you truly her, the real you even before this marriage holds. Everyone will know your horrible doings and you'll lose everything". This was Melissa's seething and threatening voice.
