Caleb and I sing to our daughter, Mandy, who has just turned two. It's her birthday, and I have organized this colossal birthday bash for her, but she does not look thrilled.

"I wanna ride the bunny..." Mandy mumbles and points at Gary, who shakes his head no.

"Come on, Gary, be a good sport and let her ride your back!" Caleb looks at him with pleading eyes.

"Hell no! She pulls my ears a lot, and it hurts." Gary frowns.

I look at Mandy. "Sweetheart, if uncle Gary let you ride on his back, do you promise not to pull his ears?"
