6 Ex-Prospective Father-in-Law's Request

Yara froze in front of Adam's apartment door. Adam had given her an access card so she could enter, while Adam was picking up his aunt at the airport.

"Is it okay if I go in alone? Then if something missing, I'll be the one who gets hit."

Choosing to ignore her doubts, Yara entered Adam's apartment which she had never stepped in. She nodded in understanding after darting her gaze around the two-bedroom apartment.

She learned more or less about design psychology, and from the interior design of Adam's apartment, Yara was able to underline Adam's character which was still very clear and cold.

With the dominance of black and adopting a minimalist design, the apartment really feels cold. There were no decorations or ornaments that decorated the apartment, as if the apartment was only used for sleeping, not for living.

Yara plopped down on the sofa, then stretched her legs while sipping the ice vanilla latte that she had bought before she went up to Adam's unit.

Suddenly Yara chuckled as she remembered how she asked her parents for permission and how she was going to make Adam pay for what he did.

Flashback on

"Can I, Mom, Dad?" Yara asked her parents at dinner.

"What the hell, Ra? What a strange reason you gave to us." Rhea doesn't just accept the reason her child stays at someone's place.

Which parent can believe that their child asks for permission to stay in his ex-boyfriend's apartment unit because her ex-aunt came from outside the island and asked to be accompanied while in Jakarta.

"Blame Om Ranu. Do I have to get this project or I will be sent to work on a resort in Papua. Mama Papa wants me to go to Papua? Even though I recently returned from Manado."

"It's not like that, Ra. Your reasoning is a bit unreasonable. Then again, which ex of yours dares to order you?" asked Naren with a serious look. He knows the intercommunication of young people today. Of course he didn't want to be missed.

Yara pursed her lips. After revealing the name of her ex who dared to rule over her, he would definitely be the target of his parents and two brothers. "Adam."

"Adam?" Naren and Rhea both screamed when a name came out of their child's beautiful lips.

"Your ex from high school? Your first ex-boyfriend?" asked Naren in disbelief.

"Yes, Pa. Trust me, Pa. Adam won't be in the apartment. It's just me and his aunt from Pontianak. I only accompany Tante Desi for walks while in Jakarta. As soon as Adam came back from out of town, I went straight home. "

Seeing her parents who still looked doubtful, Yara tried to convince them again. "Papa and Mama can video call at any time. I'll definitely pick it up right away, so you don't think about various things. I'll give you the address of Adam's apartment later, if you want to check it out suddenly."

"Wait, Papa and Mama need to discuss first." Naren then embraced Rhea's waist affectionately and entered the room, leaving Yara who was annoyed at the intimacy of her parents.

A few moments later his parents came out of the room. It is her father who is now speaking up for his youngest daughter, who is the most cheerful but often causes trouble.

"Ok, Papa and Mama give you permission. But... if within five minutes you don't pick up the video call from Papa or Mama, just see what the consequences will be."

"Alright, Boss."

"It's not over yet, Ra. Another requirement is to invite Adam here to talk to Papa."

"Well, Adam is out of town, Pa."

"After that, it's okay. Papa missed playing chess with him too."

"Pa, Adam already has a future wife. It's not good if I ask him to come here."

"Why? Papa didn't ask him to marry you. Papa just wanted to talk to him."

Yara ruffled her hair in frustration. But she couldn't do anything if Mr. Narendra wanted to.

"Okay, I'll take Adam here later."

"Are you sure you can invite him here?" Rhea asked uncertainly.

"I'll set him up if I need to," she answered before walking up the stairs.

Flashback off

Adam dragged his aunt's suitcase into the apartment without ringing the bell first. His steps stopped when he saw the sight in front of him that made him completely gape.

Yara nonchalantly fell asleep on the sofa, unaware that the apartment owner and his guests were currently looking at her.

"Oh my God. I’ll wake up Yara first, Tante."

"No need, Dam." Desi gave the code to lower their voices. "Let it go, maybe she’s tired."

Adam shook his head in disbelief at Yara who was still closing her eyes, even though it was clear that the sound of the suitcase being dragged should have woken a sleeping person. "I'll take the suitcase to my room first, Tante. Is it okay for you to stay in my room? I'll let Yara sleep in the guest room later."

Desi waved her hand. "As comfortable as you are."

Not obeying his aunt, after Adam escorted his aunt into the room and asked her to rest, Adam immediately went near the sofa and shook Yara's arm. "Yara. Wake up."

"Ngg...." Yara groaned softly, keeping her eyes closed as if a bag of sand was weighing on her eyelids.

"Ra. Tante Desi has arrived."

Finally Adam's words were able to make Yara blink slowly.

"Dam," she called innocently.

"You even can sleep in someone's apartment," Adam quipped.

Yara chuckled. "Sorry." Yara looked around, but couldn't find anyone other than Adam. "Where's Tante Desi?"

"In the room, resting. I'm leaving after this." Adam then handed a card to Yara.

"What?" Yara stared confusedly at the card in Adam's hand.

"Credit card. For Tante Desi. It's impossible that Tante Desi will pay for everything if you eat or shop, it's impossible if you pay for it."

Yara chuckled softly. "If it just buy food for two days, I can do it too, Dam. Unless Tante Desi wants to buy a branded bag, then I'll think about it."

"Never mind, just hold on. I don't want to be in debt."

Relenting, Yara took the card from Adam's hand.

"Yara, are you awake?" The voice of a woman who just came out of the room made Yara immediately stand up.

"Hi, Tante. Sorry I overslept earlier, it was really quiet. How are you, Tan?”

Desi smiled kindly. "I’m fine. How are you? Long time no see. Do you still remember me?"

"Of course, Tante." Yara approached and hugged the woman in front of her.

During the trip from the airport, Adam had told his aunt everything about who would accompany her and how his relationship with Yara was.

" I'm glad you can still be friends even though you broke up."

Yara smiled bitterly. If only this middle-aged woman knew how the real relationship between Adam and her was.

"Tante, I'm leaving first. Sorry, I can't accompany you."

"It's okay. I really needs to come here. Don't feel burdened, come on, go now, or you will be late."

Adam nodded, then kissed the back of his aunt's hand. "If you need anything, just tell Yara, Tan."

"I will."

Yara who saw Adam turned around, immediately asked Desi's permission to take Adam to the door. Adam could only frown in confusion at Yara's wish.

"Dam," Yara whispered.

"What?"

"I want to talk."

"Yeah, then talk."

"Hmm... after you come back from out of town, Papa wants to meet you."

"Hah?" Adam's eyes widen. "What does he want?"

Yara shrugged and went back into the apartment, leaving Adam confused by the request of Yara's Papa, a figure he had always respected. The man he used to predict as his future father-in-law, before his relationship with Yara ended.
