Chapter 9

For the first time in three months Elsie woke up next to Lewis, feeling his body heat. There was no barricade of pillows. They were covered in their white sheets naked with Elsie lying on his hairy chest, feeling the rhythmic raise and fall of his thoracic cavity. Cool air escaped his lungs through his nose. She slid out of his grasp carefully not to wake him up and sat on the bed her hands covering her face.

It was a brand new day but with the same guilt. Some things don’t just change especially those engrained on our hearts by a curving knife of guilt.

The memories of the sweaty untamed sex they had the previous night flashed her mind but they were getting distorted by those of the other night with Frank. She tried to slap some sense into her own head but she ended up waking up Lewis. Another bad move. She was afraid of the review-how she performed the previous night.

"Good morning sunshine, you're okay?"

"You're awake!" Surprised Elsie turned around to face Lewis
