Chapter 24

Some say when you kill a snake, burn it or if you leave it in the open you will find it gone. It can come back to life. And as odd as that sounds it had been what happened after their fight. Dien fell down the cliff and really died. A week passed as she lay on that spot. She couldn't feel the coldness down below. Her purple snake body kept on enduring the heat during the day.

It is one night after those seven days when she miraculously opened her eyes, feeling her body numb and she had no energy to move. Her stomach made growling sounds that frightened creatures that were near her. She couldn't shift and the only way she could move was after eating something. It didn't have to be any animal. She really wanted the meaty, less bony human. She wished for one to end up to her.

And just like that, an old man was passing by. He had gotten late looking for firewood. It had been his habit of taking shortcuts through that place.

Just by smelling him come her way, made Dien's heart pound loud
