I raced to the gap in the tower only to watch her body hit the rocks. She was a broken heap of gold silk, blood and black on the moonlit floor. A nightmare comes to life. Despite revealing my location I could not help but scream. I tasted blood, dropping to my knees as I stared at the lifeless form of my best friend.

How could she do this? What was she thinking to have left me like this! A bang on the door saw me almost follow her straight out of the window. I didn’t need to hear his voice to know the snarling, panting beast behind the door was Austin. The oak door held strong as his body crashed into it over and over.

I pushed the wooden desk against the door, praying there would be enough weight to keep it shut. He kept going, almost frenzied as the crashing sound of his body into the wood left me shaking. I stood in my dress and black leggings, surveying the room. Roxie, for some reason, had jumped with the poker so I was defenceless.
