Introduction

ZESA RUSSO

The sound of hands coming together resonated in my ears as the stage lift rose. I interlocked my fingers, excited and nervous about what was about to happen in the next five minutes. I, Zesa Jimena Russo, would sign a contract with Levi Del Campa of H.K Group and, in return, he would give me what I have always wanted from him.

His heart and body.

Flashes from cameras that would normally bother me were of no concern to me today, as it was a special day for me and my husband to be. The stage lift stopped, and I smiled widely for the cameras as ceremonious music filled my ears.

I looked to my right. Standing beside me was my husband to be in a navy blue suit. His straight, black hair was pulled back to reveal a charming face. One reason I fell for him. Piercing gray eyes stared at a woman in the crowd, his mother—Marie Del Campa. I was thankful for her. She made my dream come true. Of course, their company’s lack of funds contributed to it, but Marie played a key role.

He tore his eyes away from his mother and turned to me. His eyebrows were lowered and his lips curled inwards. Smile, I wanted to say. He was making it appear I forced him to be here. I sat down, my eyes still trained on him.

“We will now begin the investment signing ceremony between Techya and H.K Group.”

I opened the contract so I could sign it.

“… President Zesa Russo of Techya and Chairman Levi Del Campa of H.K Group will sign the agreement.”

I picked up my pen and signed the contract before closing it. I shifted my attention to Levi. He was hesitating. He breathed out, playing with the pen in his hand. He wouldn’t dare back away now, would he? I could hear the beat of my heart get louder with each passing second. If he did not sign it, it would mean our marriage would not happen. The thought of it scared me.

I leaned closer to him. “What are you doing?” He ignored me. “Sign it.” I added.

He leaned in as well. “I’ll never love you, Zesa.”

And with that said, he signed the contract. Once again, the audience that comprised the press and important members of both companies clapped. I came to my feet and faced Levi with my hand out. He took it. When he was about to let go, I tightened my grip. With every step I took toward him, his anger increased.

I whispered into his ear once I was close enough. “And she’ll never have you.”
