AZURA: Chapter 1

I am Azura. The only goddess of two elements. Fire and water.

Ooops...... Right introduction, wrong timing.

****************

"This is not gonna be a great day". This was all I could say to myself.

Somehow deep down, I could just feel that something huge was gonna happen today.

It was the same gut feeling I woke up with the day I lost my parents to a ghastly car accident.

I was a hundred and one percent sure, that crazy things are gonna happen today.

Was it instinct? Or maybe what I saw when I looked at my reflection in the mirror this morning?

Or both?

Oh well...

I've always been that weird girl. When I was a child, I used to see things. Imaginary creatures. Although I stopped seeing them as I became older, so my parents and I would always joke about it.

"They are just a child's imaginations"

But were they really?

I sighed.

This isn't gonna be a great day

My heart did a flip for the hundredth time that morning and I sighed again.

As I walked to school, that feeling kept growing.

I would have just skipped school today, but besides the fact that I have a chemistry test, there was a strong force compelling me to get to school as soon as I could.

Shivering, I increased my pace, mentally blocking off the car honks, shouts of hawkers on the streets. I hate noise.

I could feel myself panicking a little as I got closer to the school gate.

But I guess I should just go and get the day over and done with. Shouldn't I?

Que sera sera.

"Elle!"

I smiled for the first time since I woke up that morning and turned to see my friend Rachel, waving from the school canteen.

Heaving a sigh of relief, I waved back with a smile. If there was anyone that could make this crazy day easier to get by, it was Rachel.

I waited for her as she took whatever she bought from the old lady, and came running to me with a huge smile.

"Bread and soft drinks again? Really? Whatever happened to real food?". I teased her and she laughed, hooking her arms around mine and dragging me towards our class room.

I noticed a few glances... Stares directed to me and I smiled.

I'm sure my fellow students were wondering what the hell I was doing in school, wearing a thick head scarf and black sunglasses.

They would be shocked to find out.

When we both got inside our class room, everyone turned to give me a look. Some giggled, while some just gave me hard stares.

I heard some whispers of "weirdo".

They had no idea.

however i ignored them and sat down on my chair.

"So why are you late? Mr Abdul already came in. He will be here very soon for the test." Rachel said from her seat besides me and I nodded.

"Then later, after the test you can tell me what's up with the head scarf and sunglass".

She said again, biting into her bread.

I rolled my eyes, although she couldn't see it.

"Yes mum".

A few minutes later, our chemistry teacher came in for the test.

Followed by more teachers, till it was time for our lunch break.

Luckily none of them bothered to spare me a glance.

"Okay Ella, let's talk".

Rachel said tapping my shoulder.

I flinched and shut my eyes tightly.

How the hell was I supposed to explain this to her?

I sure as hell needed to talk to someone about this freaky shit, else I'll go crazy.

The problem is, how do I tell her without making her freak out?
