Chapter two

Damian walked to the class. He missed her presence. Lunch came quickly. He looked forward to meeting her. She walked in the hall with some guy. He didn't need to move so close to notice he wasn't human. Jealousy rose from his chest. He had no idea why. He barely knew the girl. He listened keenly to their conversation.

"Did you watch it already?" She asked.

"Did you think I was?" Alexander replied.

"Maybe"

"I actually didn't" Alex replied, smiling at her.

***

"Why?"

She asked, more like demanded. He smiled at her again.

"Not funny" She said, a little pissed at him.

"Anna, it's just a movie" Alex explained, not understanding why she would get so upset.

He felt someone looking at her. He scanned the room and their eyes met. Damian Grey. Alex had heard so much about him. The only existing hybrid. Or so he thought.

"Hey, you stopped walking"

Anna called to his attention.

"I'm sorry" Alexander apologized as he kept staring at him.

"Who are you looking at?"

Anna asked before she traced his eyes and saw what or rather who he was staring at.

"Oh that proud spoilt brat" Anna said, staring at him now.

Did he just cringe? He was listening to the conversation.

"Why'd you call him that?" Alexander asked.

"He called me pathetic"

"Are you serious?" He asked, surprised this time.

"Yeah. We should leave"

She said moving towards the exit

"But we just got here" Alex argued

"Alex, I'm not hungry" she replied

"Do you even eat?"

Alex figured she hadn't transformed yet or she didn't know. She was going to be 18. She ought to have transformed two years ago. Why hasn't she? He wasn't sure if she was the person he was looking for and he wasn't going to be sure, not till he saw the scar. Now, how was he going to see a scar that was engraved on her chest? That was the real question. He couldn't just ask her about it without raising suspicions.

He wanted her safe. It is well, a long story. He hoped she would realize the truth early. She was almost 18. She ought to see the signs now. Or soon. Very soon, she won't be able to hide for long and when she starts to transform, some very very powerful people would come for her. Aled had to be there to protect her but she'll have to protect herself. Alex knew he can't protect her as much as would like to if she doesn't realize who and what she is.

***

Weeks went by. Alex and her were pretty close though she didn't tell her mom about him. She knew her mom was just going to tell her to stay away from him. Alex said his Mom left and well, his dad was killed when he was 5. He was 21 now, when his dad was killed. Anna was about 2. She never knew my dad so she couldn't relate to the pain he was talking about. She turned 18 few days back. She felt worse. Whatever was taking over was stronger than she was. She rarely ate now.

Her mom didn't notice. She was too busy to notice anything. It was a Saturday and she wasn't home as usual. Annw felt her life draining from her body. She picked up her phone and called Alex, he wasn't picking up. His house was a few houses away from hers. She could get there before she black out, so she thought. She left home and the sun stung a lot. She went back in to get a hooded sweatshirt. She got out and saw someone infront of her house. She looked up and fainted.

***

Damian caught her. Something was wrong with her. Her skin felt so perfect on hers. He could barely hear her heart beat even with total concentration. She was sick, or dying.

"What'd you do to her?"

Damian heard a growl. He looked back and his eyes glowed, not blood red, not grey, but grey with gold outlines. Damian stepped back. He was that dude that was always with her at school. He wasn't a wolf or a vamp. He was both. He was like him

"As much as I'd love to fight, I can't. Something is happening to her. I felt it from where I was and tacked her scent here" Damian explained, extremely worried about her.

"You felt it? You can't possibly feel it except.."

"We're mates. Yes I know. I grew up in Cordina. I know how it works. I'm Damian" he said, interrupting Alexander.

"Damian as in Damian Grey?"

Alexander asked.

"You know me?" Damian asked, surprised.

"I'm Alexander. It's been a while."

"Gerald?" Damian asked, shocked to his bones.

That name brought memories. He looked away

"I know. You killed my dad. Thing is you were five. I don't hold it against you. I hold it against your dad Damian. We were friends. You did all you could do to protect me. I appreciate it" Alex explained after reading the guilt on Damian's face.

"My dad said you were dead"

"He thought. I activated my wolf side before Phillip came after me"

"My dad came after you?" Damian asked, shocked.

"Yeah. So when he killed me, it was temporary. I woke up and came down here" Alex explained.

"You were five!" Damian said

Damian's heart broke.

"Apparently, your dad didn't care"

"I'm sorry" Damian apologized.

"Don't be. Just come with me" Alex said.

Damian carried her.

"How fast can you run?" Alex asked him.

"I'm a hybrid"

"Well, catch up" Alex said

He sped away. Damian followed him. He could feel her getting heavier. She was dying. We got into his house. Damian dropped her on his bed and he held her hand. Alex pushed Damian aside and opened her sweatshirt.

"What are you doing? She doesn't have time. Why is she like this?" Damian asked, one question after another.

"She's dying. She has to become a Vampire soon or else we'd lose her" Alex said.

"So why are you trying to get her naked?" Damian asked

Alex looked at him

"Seriously?"

That was definitely what it felt like. Alex moved closer. He pulled the neck of her camisole and there was a scar. More like a skin burn. Or more like hot metal pressed on the skin. It was a crescent with a cross underneath it. He touched it and moved back. What was that?

"I know who she is" Alex said, moving back.

"Obviously. She's your friend!" Damian screamed at him, already scared of what was going to happen to her.

"She's not my friend Damian"

Alex said taking of his shirt. He had the same burn. They were siblings. Not only that. They were from the crescent pack. They were one of the most important packs ever. If Damian's calculations were correct, they were royalties. Heirs to the throne. One was going to be Alpha and one was going to be King or queen of every pack. Damian moved back. She started turning grey.

Alex bit his wrist and put it in her mouth. She woke up and he snapped her neck. She was going to wake up soon. Hopefully, if they weren't too late. He stood up from the bed.

"If your dad came after me, He'll come after her" Alex said

"i know, nothing would happen to her"

"Keep the fact that we are siblings a secret from her. I don't want her to know yet" Alex asked of Damian

Damian only nodded. He knew that Alex had his reasons and he was going to respect them. It was the least he could do. Few hours later she woke up. She would need more blood

***

Alex threw a blood pack at her. She looked up

"Alex"

"We have to talk Anna. Drink up"

She did. She was fighting the urge to stop but she didn't. She finished it and took a deep breath

"What was that?" She asked

"Human blood" Alex answered

"What the hell Alex?"

"You're a vampire!"

"I'm a what?" She asked

"You're a vampire like I am, like Alex is" Damian interfered

"What's he doing here?"

"He's one of us. Just listen"

"Yeah"

She scoffed

"Anna" Alex explained "When you were born, mom had to leave with you because you were a hybrid"

"You're crazy" she laughed

"Just listen. She left Cordina because it was the safest thing to do. She had to seperate us because of people who believed hybrids were not supposed to exist" Alex explained further.

"You mean like a combination of Vampires and werewolves?"

" Yes" he answered

"Did you watch twilight?" Anna asked, with mockery in her voice.

"What's that? No I didn't. It's not a movie or a book. You're a combination of the two. I am and your arrogant mate is too. When mom left with you, they came after me and killed Dad. Few weeks later, they killed me too. I woke up. We are immortal and they are going to come after you when you activate your wolf side" Alex explained

"Alright, let's say I believe you, who's they?" Anna asked

"My dad" Damian interrupted, answering her question

"Then I don't activate it" she said

"It's not that easy. That is saying you wouldn't kill anybody. Mom is a werewolf and dad was a vampire"

"Mom"

Alex pulled down his collar

"Where'd you get that scar?" She asked

"When we were going to get seperated, Mom and dad decided to scar the both of us so we'd find each other"

"I can't believe this" she shook her head

"Then maybe we should pay a visit to Mom" Alex concluded

"I have to go" Damian said

"Go where?" She demanded. " I don't believe any of this!"

Damian pulled out a knife from heaven knows where and threw it at her. She caught it. With speed. She dropped the knife. He smiled at her and sped off. She grabbed her sweater

"What's the time?" She asked

"Past 6"

"Mom would be home anytime from now"

"You have super speed. I'm guessing you already know that now"

"What do you suggest?" Anna asked him.

She smiled at him and they raced to her house. They got in.

"Nice place" Alex said as he entered the house

"Kind of small, compared to yours" Anna replied.

"That's why it's nicer. It feels so homey"

He said and he walked around, taking the place in. She took him to her room. She knew her mom was going to be mad that she brought someone into the house. She sighed, it was all starting to add up now. Annabelle never really understood how her mother could tell that she brought someone home especially if the person left hours before her mother returned. She could smell them.

"A penny for your thoughts" Alex said, dragging her out of her world.

"It's nothing to bother about. I just wonder how growing up was, I mean for you. I'm sorry you had to go through all that alone" Anna said.

"I wasn't really alone. It was hard but I knew that one day, I was going to meet you again and hopefully, we were going to be together" Alex said. "That was the hope that kept me going. I'm just glad I found you"

"I guess so. I don't understand why mom would keep it from me. We could have come for you earlier. A father that was killed, a brother I don't know anything about? How come I don't remember any of it?" Anna questioned.

"You were too young to remember. You were almost two when we got separated and mom knew that if she told you sooner, you would come looking for me and that would get you in trouble" Alex said, hoping his reason was valid enough.

"Still, I'm almost eighteen. She should have told me either ways. Was she going to ever tell me?"

Anna sighed, she knew exactly what this was. It was her mother, keeping secrets again.
