Chapter Seven

She fell to her knees before falling to the ground. Damian moved back. He had never had a fist in chest. Nobody ever came that close. He always fought and he always won. She was something, he had to admit.

“Are you okay?” Alex asked.

“I don’t know. I have never had a fist in my chest. It’s something I can’t get used to” Damian said.

“What do we do now?” Alex asked.

“I don’t know. Take her home maybe. I’d talk to Justin in the morning. He should know someone that can lift this spell” Damian said.

Alex agreed. There wasn’t much that could be possibly done now. It was past midnight and they should be asleep. Damian and Alex took care of the bodies and they headed home. Damian saw them off to Alex’s house before eventually heading to his. He spent the night turning and tossing. He wasn’t just at ease. He eventually woke up, not realizing he actually fell asleep. He rubbed his eyes and met Justin in his room.

“Hey, what are you doing here?” Damian asked.

“Making sure you’re not dead yet. It’s past noon!” Justin said.

Damian grabbed his phone and saw that Justin was right. Damn! How could he over sleep? He saw that Alex had called him almost a hundred times. He sped into the bathroom to have a shower. He had a quick one before getting dressed. He was about to speed out of the house when Justin held him.

“Let me come with!” Justin said.

“Its Monday. Go to school.” Damian ordered.

“Its past noon and I have more experience with magic than you do, than Alex does. Let me help” Justin said

Damian sighed and nodded in agreement. They sped off together, Justin following Damian’s lead. They arrived at their house. Damian rang the doorbell. They couldn’t go in without an invitation. That was the rule. Nobody could just waltz into anybody’s house uninvited. If you do, you would die a slow and painful death. Damian started to get impatient as he rang the door bell again since he got no reply to the first one. He hated this. This was the wrong time for a delay. He was going to ring the bell again when Justin stopped him. Justin already heard someone coming down the stairs. The door opened and a beautiful blonde opened the door.

“Come in” she said.

Damian was skeptical about going in because she wasn’t the owner of the house.

“Don’t worry. It’s totally safe. I speak with the authority of the owner of this abode” She said.

Damian and Justin walked in together. She led them to Anna’s room. They met her. She was grey already. The dagger was still in her chest.

“Where have you been?” Alex asked him.

“I’m sorry. I over slept. I guess it’s the effect of her trying to rip out my heart!” Damian said back.

“She tried to do that? How is that even possible? Nobody has ever come close to that!” Justin said, really surprised.

“I don’t know. Her strength is impeccable. She’s just not like the rest of us. There’s something about her” Damian said.

“Where are my manners? Damian and his friend, this is my mate. Her name is Arielle. Babe, this is Damian” Alex introduced.

“Hey, I’m Damian. This is my best friend. His name is Justin” He said, motioning to where Justin stood before. He wasn’t there anymore.

He had moved from there to where Annabelle laid.

“Uh… something is wrong guys” Justin said.

“What’s that?” Alex asked.

“Is it just me or does this dagger look like it’s melting?” He said and everybody ran to where he was.

He was right. The dagger was melting off her skin like butter coming in contact with a hot knife. It was slower than that.

“How can we stop it? If that dagger melts away, she would wake up and kill all of us” Alex said

“Then you put another dagger in her until we come up with a solution!” Arielle said.

“I can’t keep doing that” Damian said. “We have to find a way to break this curse before that dagger melts away completely”

“I have a cousin. She’s a witch. She and her brother. They are from the South coven. Phil and Cassie. She would help. They are really strong and maybe stronger than Carol” Justin said.

“How soon can you get Cassie here?” Damian asked.

“I don’t know but I would call her” Justin said, speeding off.

“I didn’t know he was hybrid.” Alex said.

“He is not. I’m linked to him so he has access to my powers” Damian said

They sat in her room, waiting for Justin. He eventually called back. Damian picked up the phone and put in on speaker.

“What is going on?” Damian asked.

“Just found Cassie and there’s a problem. Some years ago, a vampire killed her twin brother, Phil. She’s not willing to help us” Justin said.

“Then talk to her!” Damian screamed at his best friend.

“I have tried to. She’s not changing her mind”

“Give her the phone” Damian said

“Because you have a past with her doesn’t mean she would listen to you!” Justin said.

“Just let me try” Damian said

The line went blank for a couple of minutes before he heard her voice.

“I am not doing it Damian! There’s nothing you can possibly say that will change my mind”

“Cass, please. I just met her and it feels like I have known her all my life. She tried to kill me. If she wakes up, I don’t think I can stop her. I know a vampire killed hour brother and I promise you that I would find who did this and you would punish him the way you deem fit but Anna isn’t that person. She would be if the spell isn’t lifted. You can change that, please!” Damian begged.

“Alright. Fine, I’d grab a few things and be on my way” she said

“Guys….. she’s awake” Arielle said.

“I have to go Cassie” he said as he hung up.

He looked at her. This time, her eyes were night black. Magic had completely taken over. She looked at Damian, then Arielle before looking at Alex. She went after Alex and he was ready to fight back. She wasn’t ready to back down from the fight. After almost destroying the apartment, fighting against three people, Justin sped in from the door and ran a dagger into her chest.

“What the hell happened here?” Justin asked, seeing the three of them all beaten up

“Anna happened. Took us all down but she looked like she was after her brother” Damian explained.

“Well, he put the first dagger in her so I guess it is expected”

“Or she’s trying to reach out” Cassie said, appearing in their midst.

“Whoa, what the hell?” Arielle screamed.

“You would get used to it” Justin said to her.

“If she is reaching out, that’s a good sign” Cassie said, walking over to where she was. “Look at her wrist. This magic is dark magic. It literally removes her spirit and replaces it with another. If she’s reaching out, she’s still in there somewhere” Cassie explained, walking away from her.

She used her magic to rearrange the house back to how it was. She cleared the center of the room and drew a big circle with powder before staging candles around the circle. She snapped her fingers and all the candles were lit.

“Who is going to remove the dagger?” she said.

“I would” Arielle Said

“Alex, I’d like you to stand beside me and Justin too”

They obeyed.

“Why?” Damian asked, not understanding why she would want them to stand beside her.

“Just incase I’m wrong and she is really trying to kill who killed her” Cassie said as she stood in between the both of them.

Cassie nodded at Arielle and Arielle pulled out the dagger from Anna’s chest. She woke up immediately and grabbed Arielle by the neck. She flung her to the other side of the room. She went after Damian.

“What is going on?” Arielle said.

“I don’t know but my magic can’t get her into the circle. Something is blocking me out!” Cassie shouted.

“That is because it was casted by another witch” Justin said to her.

“Can you break the spell or not?” Alex asked.

“I can but I need her in the circle” Cassie replied.

“I’m on it” Damian said.

“She already tried to kill you once. I don’t think that is a good idea!” Justin said

“We can either stay here arguing while she recuperates or we can agree and find a way to move forward. Which is it going to be?” Arielle said.

Justin sighed and he nodded at Damian. He sped to where Anna was. She growled at him but she didn’t attack. He tried to touch her but she moved back. He grabbed her by the neck and flung her across the room. He needed her to fight back because she wasn’t going to let him take her so easily and she wasn’t going to let him live either. She was under magic and the magic would try to fight another magic. Her eyes grew black and she went after Damian. She saw Arielle by the side and went after her instead. For some reasons, she couldn’t kill Damian.

She wasn’t willing to try to kill him. She tried once and the pain she felt was immense. She sped to Arielle. Arielle was ready to fight back even though she wasn’t going to win. Damian grabbed Anna by the collar of her shirt and threw her into the circle. Luckily for him, Cassie already put a spell around the circle that would enable one to come in but not leave.

Anna stood up and tried to leave but it was like hitting a wall. She growled at Cassie and looked at her straight in the eyes. She lifted her hands to touch the invincible wall.

“What is she doing?” Alex asked.

“She is trying to remove the barrier. I have to break this spell now. I’d advice you move back” Cassie said.

They moved back a few feet and she started to chant. Anna fell to her knees after fighting Cassie’s chant for a few minutes. A strong wind blew across the room from time to time and eventually, a blinding light came along with a scream that pierced the soul. When the light was gone, everybody turned to look at the circle Anna stood in. She stood for a few minutes, then they heard a metal object come in contact with the floor before Anna did.

Cassie walked into the circle and picked up the metal object. She put it in the purse she hung around her neck and touched Anna.

“Is she okay?” Alex asked.

“She would be. Right now, she needs all the rest she can possibly get” Cassie replied him.

“What was that thing?” Damian asked, pointing to her purse.

“I really don’t know. I have never seen a spell objectified. I would have to study on this and get back to you” Cassie replied. “Speaking of study, I have to head back now” she said.

“You wouldn’t stay for lunch?” Alex asked.

“Its past lunch already and it’s really late” She said and they all looked at the open window.

She was right. The crescent moon hung in the sky.

“Are you sure you can’t stay till tomorrow morning? I can prepare a room” Arielle said

“I just have to snap my fingers and I’m home. I’d be okay” she said.

“Cass, can I see you for a moment?” Damian asked.

“Sure” she said as they walked towards the door together.

She stopped at the entrance like there was some beast outside.

“Why did you want to see me?” Cassie asked.

“I made you a promise and I am going to fulfill it” Damian said.
