Ch. 5 - The Nightclub Pt. 3

Noah's Point of View

When Kristof and I arrived at the nightclub, we immediately found Lucas, the unmated Alpha of the Midnight Pack. His pack were situated in the city and ran the nightclub, among other businesses. I had heard that he was pretty hands-on with the nightclub.

"Welcome, Alpha Kristof, Beta Noah," said Lucas bowing.

"Are you here for personal, pack or kingdom business?"

"Personal, Alpha Lucas," Kristof replied.

"I was directed to your city to find my mate."

"May you find our next Queen soon and easily," he replied.

"Enjoy your time in my club."

With that, he went off to attend to business.

As usual, we were surrounded by many unmated female wolves hoping to attract an Alpha or Beta. There were even some human females staring at us with desire.

Neither Kristof nor myself were interested unless they were destined to be our true mates. I had already found mine, but she was human, and I wasn't entirely sure whether it would be an issue or not. It was one thing for my sister to mate with a human, but I was a Beta.

I also had the problem that my Alpha was also looking for his mate, and I didn't want to distract him or make him feel bad if I announced that I had met mine.

Kristof and I were heading to the VIP table when I felt this powerful pull from across the room. Zara had just walked into the nightclub, and I could feel her across the smoky, crowded dance floor.

It didn't matter that I couldn't see her in the darkened club, but I knew she was there, having just entered and by the front door. I could even smell her apple pie and cinnamon scent that was unique just for her. Even though it was a subtle aroma, it dominated all other smells.

After a while, I was able to spot Zara over on the left side of the dance floor. Watching her, I felt like a voyeur. Her self-confidence and assertiveness were a major turn-on.

She was with her flatmate, whose name was Aláine if I remember correctly. I had met her briefly when dropping Zara off one night. She was quiet and reserved, unlike Zara, but they complemented each other.

They both walked over to a table where my sister, Cassandra, was sitting with her mate Tyra. I hadn't even noticed they were here tonight, and I certainly hadn't known that Zara or her flatmate knew them.

Suddenly, I felt Kristof tense up, and I turned around to face him.

"What's up?" I asked.

"My mate!" he growled softly, "and human."

I looked at where Kristof was looking. It was towards Zara, Aláine, Cassandra and Tyra were. He could mean anyone in between, but I wasn't sure. I knew he didn't mean Zara because she was mine.

"Surely not the dark-skinned one in the red dress?" I said.

"I hope not because we have hooked up a couple of times."

More than a couple, but I wasn't going to tell Kristof, well, at least not yet. If I said that, he would know something was up for sure.

"Not her," he replied.

"Her friend?" I asked. "Well, that is fortuitous."

Kristof started moving towards them, and I knew there were quite a few humans in the club tonight. He was totally consumed with getting to his mate. Therefore, it was my job to ensure he didn't do anything that would identify us as anything other than human.

"Alpha. Wait," I said, as he was walking away.

"Alpha! Wait," I repeated a little louder. "The woman in the red dress; her name is Zara."

I went on to explain that she could be merely a way of introducing himself, "Her friend's name is Alàine if I remember correctly. She is quiet, not like her friend, Zara, and a lot more reserved."

He stopped. This was good.

"Caution, Kristof; there are many humans here. This is not our club, remember." I continued preferring to use his name instead of Alpha as we were now that much closer to the humans.

However, the pull from the mate bond was too much for Kristof, and all I could do was closely follow him.

"Shit!" I exclaimed under my breath.
