Aláine's Point of View
Fuck! Right this moment, my world was on shaky ground. It was all too much and I wanted to get out of the nightclub, and not necessarily with anyone else. I was determined not to be weak. I was not a crier. Not now or ever, and I would stick to that come hell or high water.
"Damn! I am losing it," I sternly told myself. "Come on, damn it! Focus and get control!"
Apart from being upset by Tyra's comments and confused by this man, I didn't like the feeling of not being in control. I also didn't like the oversexed, gorgeous hunk of a male who smelt like grass after the rain, whose light touch on my waist was sending a frisson down my body.
Oh, who was I kidding? I needed to amend that thought. I just hated the feeling of not being in control. That oversexed, gorgeous hunk of a male who smelt like grass after the rain is exactly what I liked and really, really wanted.
"I'm not going anywhere with you until you explain yourself," I threatened, trying to sound brave and in control.
"You are my mate," Kristof repeated as if that should make perfect sense to me, "and your cousin will explain in a short while when we are all in the car."
Tyra nodded, smiling in a blatant attempt to calm me.
"Trust me, Aláine," she said, "it will all make sense once we've explained. This..." indicating the nightclub, "is not the place to do it."
I glared at her.
"Is this why you didn't want me here?" I said accusingly.
"Well, I am glad you did come here," said Kristof interrupting us, "otherwise it could have been rather difficult to find you."
I could only sigh and let myself be led outside to the car. A sleek black limousine even; how typical and expected, and totally groan-worthy. Our little group now consisted of Tyra, Cassandra, Noah, Zara, Kristof and myself.
The other four got into the car first. Feeling somewhat subdued, I got in, with Kristof following me.
Getting in the vehicle, I was aware of Kristof's hand on my waist the entire time. It was exceptionally difficult to think straight, made worse when he started stroking my wrist with one hand and the side of my neck with the other.
I wondered what this power he had over me was. I was not like this, especially over males who seem to always have an agenda. All the while, Tyra was talking about mates and werewolves. I was hardly listening, but hold on... What?
At this point, I took note of the last word and asked incredulously, "Werewolves?!"
"You mean I've been hooking up with a werewolf? Grrrr?" exclaimed Zara.
Everyone turned and looked at Zara and a rather sheepish Noah. I simply cracked up laughing.
Kristof's Point of View
I was growling almost silently. Why did my mate have to be human, and why was she laughing? I was getting frustrated with this whole scenario. I was used to people who obeyed my commands.
I had found my mate, and we should be preparing for the mating ritual. If it wasn't for the blessing of the Goddess, I probably wouldn't have bothered.
"Werewolf?" she repeated. "I thought you said this would make sense! Do you know how ridiculous you sound, Tyra?" Aláine was asking her cousin.
"But it's the truth," Tyra answered. "Cassandra is my mate. We went through a mating ritual, and now I am a werewolf too."
Aláine was looking at Tyra and then turned to face me with a look of astonishment. I was taking this opportunity to inspect her closely, and I had to say, I was delighted with her appearance. At least she looked good, even if she was laughing at us. She would make a beautiful Luna.
"Okay... so say I believe you, what happens next?" she asked him.
I looked at her intently, "You come with me, and then we are mated... for life."
"Aaah, what?! How do I know we are supposed to be mates?" she countered.
"You must have noticed that you are drawn to me. You may not know why, but you are definitely drawn to me. I saw you staring at me when you entered the club. I am also drawn to you in the same way. When we are mated, you'll feel it more." I replied, bringing my face even closer to hers.
Whether I wanted it or not, the urge to take her in my arms and then passionately kiss her was immensely intense. My wolf and Lycan were encouraging me, adding to my desire. I breathed in and closed my eyes to calm them both down.
Aláine's Point of View I wished he wasn't so close to me; it was truly hard to focus. When he brought his face close to mine, I could feel his breath lightly on my face. I must have been blushing by now. I certainly felt like my face was as red as a beetroot. Shaking my head, I said, "That's no indication. Every woman in the club is probably attracted to you. You are a walking candy store of attraction." It was Kristof's turn to chuckle now, which was unnerving because he was so damn sexy. I ought to make a mental note that he certainly was a walking candy store, and I had a sugar craving. Again, I tried to shake my head to try and dispel the effect he was having on me. It wasn't working very well. Taking a deep breath and with a slightly audible quiver in my voice, I said to Kristof, "I am not going with you tonight. I have a life. Well... I have a part-time job and a pet, and that's my life. If you want me, take me on a date. We need to get to know each other first." Kristof
Cassandra's Point of View Tyra and I went clubbing as usual. This was our little nightclub where we met for the first time. We were sitting at a table close to the dance floor, hanging out with some friends. The nightclub had the added bonus of being owned by the Midnight Werewolf Pack. Not the same as my brother's pack, but one of the packs swearing allegiance to the Kingdom of the Grey Moon. "Speak of the Devil," I said under my breath. I could just make out my brother Noah and Alpha Kristof. I was proud that Noah was Alpha Kristof's Beta. They had just finished talking to Alpha Lucas, who owned the club and ran the city-based pack. "What was that?" responded Tyra. "I was just thinking of Noah, and who should I see?" I answered. Tyra smiled at me. "Oh shit! What is she doing here?" she exclaimed. "What's up, my love?" I asked. "I've just seen my cousin Aláine," answered Tyra. "She's here with Zara." "Is that the Zara who has been hooking up with Noah?" I asked, smiling.
Aláine's Point of View It was morning time all too soon, as I slowly opened my eyes and stretched. I was drained, bordering on exhausted, when I sat in the kitchen holding my first cup of coffee for the day. Every last detail I could remember from last night has been running through my mind, not to mention some highly erotic moments involving Kristof. They hadn't actually happened, but I wished they had. Damn, he was sexy, and there was no doubt that I was attracted to him. Who wouldn't be? So what did happen last night? Everything seemed surreal. This incredibly sexy, attractive specimen of manhood had walked into my life and said we were destined to be mated forever. To top it off, this was all determined by some obscure Moon Goddess. I was not a religious person whatsoever. Typically, my warning bells would be going off majorly, but for some strange reason, they weren't. Still sitting at the kitchen table, now nursing a lukewarm cup of coffee, I found my mind focusing back on
Zara's Point of View Aláine and I sat in her bedroom while she went through her wardrobe. Yay! My BFF was going on a date tonight, and I was absolutely thrilled for her. Aláine didn't go out much and didn't date anyone after the issues with her ex-boyfriend, Marc. She often turned guys down that I wouldn't have. Well, at least until I met Noah. Marc was an arsehole because she wouldn't sleep with him. Now she was going out with this gorgeous-looking guy, who was a werewolf. "I'm dating a werewolf," Aláine said incredulously. "I'm going on a date. Seriously, what the fuck am I doing?" "You will be fine," I replied. "Werewolf or not, Kristof seems like a nice guy. I know Noah is, so I am sure he is too." "But I don't date!" she exclaimed. "Hold on, are you nervous because he is a werewolf or because you are going on a date?" I asked. "Yes!" she said nervously. At this point, I was trying not to laugh at her. She really needed to get out more and realise that not every guy was li
Aláine's Point of View The next night, I looked at myself in the mirror from the front and side views. "Here I go again," I said to Zara, "dressing in clothes that are really out of my comfort zone and showing too much leg and chest." I turned and looked at Zara, "Maybe I should wear my usual jeans and see if that turns him off." "Don't you dare!" scolded Zara. "Every girl should have a little black dress. You look better in my clothes than I do. Good thing I'm your best friend, or I'd be very jealous of you." "I love you too, girlfriend," I replied. This little black dress is too short as far as I am concerned and shows far too much leg. "I'd never buy fabulous clothes like these," I answered. "Thank you for letting me use your wardrobe... again." There was a knock on the door, and Axel went wild, barking and jumping. Zara went downstairs and opened the door. "Your walking candy store is here, Aláine!" she called, laughing. I could hear Kristof's voice, although I couldn't he
Kristof's Point of View I noticed her body react after I hinted at sex. Not only did her eyes widen, but so did her pupils. My wolven aspects could smell her body's delicious reaction. As I sat back, I smiled, knowing I had succeeded in turning her on. Of course, my body also reacted, and I was glad the table cloth hid my hardening, and I will admit my somewhat prominent, bulge. Both my wolf and Lycan wanted to fuck her right here and now. My human side was battling them for dominance because it would be totally inappropriate to give in to that impulse in a crowded restaurant. My human side would have most likely given in if we were in private. "Excuse me, sir, if I may serve your dinner now?" The interruption by the waiter brought me back to reality. I needed to take a deep breath to control my anger at being disturbed by another male and turned to look up at the man. I simply nodded, not trusting myself to say anything. During the main course, conversation about the three werew
Aláine's Point of View The following morning arrived too soon. Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I left to take Axel for a run. I had already fed Axel, but I would have my breakfast afterwards. Who wanted to run on a full stomach? I was tired for two reasons. The main one was because I sat up late talking with Zara about everything I had discovered about werewolves. Zara was also pleased that werewolves weren't the horrible scary monsters of the movies, although she was not sure of the Lycan aspect. She still wanted to continue seeing Noah, werewolf or not. "I wonder if Noah will find his mate like Kristof?" she said sadly, "then I guess we won't be hooking up." I shrugged and gave her a big hug. Since Zara hadn't seen anyone else since she had first had sex with him, I suspected that she had feelings for Noah and that their relationship was more than a hookup. Not that Zara would admit it to herself or to anyone else. That was so essentially Zara. At dinner last night, Kristof al
Aláine's Point of View I had run around the park once, but Axel still needed more running. As usual, I had a tennis ball in my pocket for him. While we were playing our game, I noticed a man standing close to me watching both me and Axel. "What a lovely dog he is," the man stated, "a husky, right?" "Yes," I replied. "I'd often thought of getting a dog. Do Huskies make good pets?" he asked. "Yes," I replied again. I had a good look at the guy speaking to me. He was handsome, I supposed, but not like Kristof. I found my natural inclination to compare any man to Kristof amusing since I had only just met him. I was not sure I liked the look of this guy. There was something off about him, but I couldn't put my finger on it. He was attractive enough; I'd give him that, but there was more to someone than good looks. He lacked whatever that was, so I didn't smile at him. I simply ignored him, hoping he would get the hint, as I continued playing with Axel. I moved away from him when he
