Chapter Four

The Tell-Tale Spirit. 

My lunch and dinner were sent to my room, I didn’t have a reason to step my foot outside. I knew something was off. I decided to sneak out and run away, packing my things would mean I want them to know that I am running away, and that isn’t the best advice, or is it?”

It would be rather obvious that I decided to disappear, writing a letter won’t be nice either. I was hoping that soon if I heard their voices that I would at least change my mind and stay with my parents but the house was quiet, it was said that there was still some bad blood in between and I would guess that the entire staff is walking on shells.

It became awfully quiet, an hour to midnight, the moon shined so bright and it had a soft breeze, I closed my windows and I took some of my pillows and clothes and stuffed the bed to make it seem like I was still there, it is a trick that I had learnt in camp, although when it was to test how good the stuffing was, I didn’t do too well, I was on the average but it was still alright. I did it over and over till I got it. I tiptoed to the kitchen, to check if there were some foods that I could eat or take along with me; running away on an empty stomach isn’t always a good idea.

I found some brownies in the fridge and some burgers too.

I packed some brownies and burgers, and I filled my water bottle too. I walked up to the garden, but then Beta Elvis was doing rounds checking around the house and everywhere else.

I had to wait for him, I had my backpack with me, my water bottle and my pocket knife, I had my hair tied up in a ponytail, I wore black shorts and a purple long sleeve top, I took a blanket and my sword too. I didn’t write a letter to inform anyone or anything. Beta Elvis did his rounds and he left the gate area.

“This is my opportunity,” I said to myself as I ran fast towards the gate and I got outside.

I checked my watch, it was around three am, I didn’t know that I had spent hours thinking, arranging and preparing myself for the trip I was about to start, I was thinking of going far away and to start working maybe as a maid or as a trader, It would bring peace and harmony to the house and soon, they might have a son, I decided to go far away where no one can recognize me neither can the news of them reach me, I felt bad leaving my mother but my absence would bring her peace and happiness. I started the journey, I walked for two hours, and I wasn’t scared as I had my sword, my backpack and myself.

I got to the river. I was thinking of sleeping there but then I started hearing voices and it seemed like the cold night river. I have heard about that river and how it can be. It is a place where spirits roam but it is famous for the Tell Tale spirit. The Tell-Tale spirit is a spirit that appears to tell you your future and it is always bad, it rarely comes out though, it has been disregarded as one of those old stories.

I turned around to get away from the river and then it became extremely foggy all of a sudden and cold too, fear gripped me immediately and I knew I was in for it.

 

“Hey princess, daughter of Luna Sylvia and Alpha Kelvin, the child who should have been a male and the next great Alpha but then you, you came as a girl, and no one loves you, you decided  to run away and try to live alone, but then you should know destiny will prevail, why run?” I saw a lady in white, her skin is as white as snow, with long hair, she sat on a chair and I was inches away from her, she looked at me with pain in her eyes as she brushed my hair countless times, you know I can grant you most desired wish and that is to be a boy, I can make you a boy and your father wouldn’t be so mad at you anymore, what do you say?” The spirit asked me and I knew it wasn’t an option, I just need to leave, if anything she confirmed the theory and she has more in her sleeves, was this the reason she gained popularity, she looks for sad people and wants to give them their greatest wish and uses it as a way to gain popularity and be more powerful, I most definitely shouldn’t fall for her tricks, she is using my greatest desire against me. I knew I had to leave but it was foggy everywhere and I couldn't see anything.

I decided to keep mute and not reply. Perhaps, she would believe I could not hear her”

“What is this? Can’t you hear me?” She asked me but I kept still, I remember my training, being still and unbothered.

“What a waste or are you not the daughter of the Alpha?” She asked but I still kept mute.

“Till next time, I know I am never wrong,” She said and she left, the fog cleared up and I walked away from the river and it disappeared, a wall of flowers built up so much,  it made me wonder why it came to me if it was an illusion or some weird trick, I mean I am worthy to have seen the Tell Tale spirit, maybe the spirit moves with the river or it finds whosoever it please, but why was I able to walk through and afterward a wall of flowers built up, “I should ask mum,” I said out loud in excitement because  I had always loved it whenever my mother tells me stories and then it suddenly dawned on me that I left home and I didn’t plan on going back soon.

I shook at the thought of going back home.

I kept walking and drinking water, I found a spot in the woods, I was getting sleepy, I found a place that had flowers and grasses it was dawn, I was calm just by looking at it, I didn’t know when I started closing my eyes, I took my bag out and I slept

The time is fifteen minutes past seven; the family wakes up around this time

The Alpha and Luna had a rough day that led to arguments; they both went to bed hungry, Beta Elvis aware that neither the Alpha nor Luna had anything the night before. He had told the staff to prepare the breakfast very early and serve it to Luna and Alpha. He has a strong belief that in any situation and every situation one should make time to eat.

“Good morning my queen” Alpha Kelvin greeted his wife with a soft kiss on her cheeks, he knew he needed to make her happy and forget about what he had said and how he reacted, he loves his daughter but he had always wanted a son, he just can’t change in a day or lesser.  He knew what his wife wanted from him and he wanted that too, he couldn’t bear them having constant arguments, he was determined to make things work out.

“Good morning, did you sleep well?” Sylvia asked the alpha.

“No, I barely slept, I was up all night thinking of ways to settle our fight and make things work out, I realized my mistakes and I want to make corrections, I want to make us work,” The Alpha explained.

His wife, the Luna was shocked at his revelation as could admit he was wrong, excited as she was, she hugged him and they settled the fight from yesterday.

“Let’s go for breakfast,” The alpha told his wife.

“Isn’t it a little too early? I mean they might still be sleeping, even Reign, she will be asleep, and you know her practice is by nine am and this is just seven, we shouldn’t stress them.

 "Have you forgotten? Elvis has a habit of preparing breakfast early for us whenever we have an argument, you should know that by now” The alpha reminded his wife as it seemed like she had forgotten.  

“You are right but I think we should let Reign come out on her own you know, I will talk to her before she goes for practice and you should take it easy on the poor girl, she is your daughter after all,” Luna said to her Alpha

 "Okay, I will agree to that but let’s go for breakfast, shall we?” Kelvin said to his wife as she held her hands, they both sat up on the bed, she rested on him and played with his hair while he was holding her hands. “Okay, let’s go” They both left for the dining room to have breakfast.

Elvis was in the dining room with them, he watched them settle and laughed along, he had been with them for so long and he loved how sweet they were to each other.

“You know Sylvia, I would want to eat your famous rice chorizo and shrimps, it has been a while since I had it” Alpha Kelvin said while eating breakfast.

“Famous? What do you mean by famous, it is only the family that knows about my chorizo and shrimps, you are just playing with me” Luna Sylvia blushed.

"Oh, you should know, he actually isn't,” Beta Kelvin replied with a smile on his face.

Luna suddenly had an uneasy feeling and she wanted to see her daughter.

“Is everything okay?” The alpha asked Luna as he saw her countenance; she is very easy to read, too easy, at least for the Alpha she is.

“Sylvia, is anything wrong? Did I say something that I shouldn’t have?” The alpha asked Luna, he was getting worried and he needed her to be fine, always.

“Please call Reign, I need to see her and talk to her, I want to see my daughter now.” Luna said and her eyes lit up, Elvis saw her eyes and so did the Alpha, The alpha held her hands immediately while Elvis ran to Reign’s room. “Our daughter is fine you know? She is fine” The alpha said calming his wife. 

“Then why am I so uneasy? Why are my legs shaking?” Luna Sylvia asked as her voice was losing volume.

“She is fine, should we head inside so you can have some rest, you are burning up and your eyes are really red right now, I am afraid if I don’t calm you down, your wolf will appear and it might be hard” The Alpha used his powers to calm his wife down and her body temperature came back to normal and so did her eye color. He had successfully calmed his wife down.

They went back to their room.

Beta Elvis was taking a rather long time to call and bring Reign.

“Let’s do breathing exercises together, shall we?” Alpha Kelvin asked as he had a feeling something was off too.

They did some breathing exercises and they were getting somewhere until Beta Elvis barged in and yelled.

“Reign is missing, we searched everywhere, she isn’t in her room or the study, neither is she at the stable nor at her at friend's place, her water bottle is missing so is her bag, I think she left home, and It might be because of the fight yesterday” Panting like he ran a mile, which he might have considering that he took a long time to get back.

Luna's eyes suddenly shut and she lost consciousness when she heard her daughter was missing.
