ZARA

The chirping of the birds was the first thing that awakened me, I opened my eyes slowly to find myself laying on the floor on the terrace, I looked around and saw that the sky was very bright. I immediately got up and dusted the dress I was wearing. My head was hurting and

I decided to take the risk and go into the room, in the hopes that Ezra wouldn’t be there.

I pushed the door slowly and I came to an empty room, no one was there. I looked around calmly and then walked towards the bathroom, as soon as I got there. I took the dress off and immediately took a warm bath, I knew I was taking a risk because Ezra might not be happy with me using his bathroom, but I stink, so I needed a bath.

Once I was done bathing, I immediately wore the dress again and instantly dashed out of the room, I sat on the floor and stared into space, I didn’t know what to do.

‘Zara, let’s run away.’ I heard Selena say, she knew very well that running wasn’t an option because he is the Lycan king, he’ll find me and bring me back.

“Selena, you know he’s the Lycan king!” I said to her.

‘I know, I heard your thoughts.” Selena said, her voice sounding very low, filled with sadness.

Turning around, I saw Lizzo staring at me, I smiled calmly at her. “Lizzo, I didn’t see you walk in,” I said, she walked towards me and sat on the floor.

“How would you know? you were so lost in thoughts.” She said, she slowly placed her head on my shoulder, this was a very weird move from her.

“Your clothe is dirty,” She said, “Come with me, I’ll get you another dress.” She lifted her head slowly.

“But Ezra, he…” She cut me short.

“Ezra isn’t around at the moment, he will be back by dawn,” She said sadly.

“Oh,” I simply uttered.

“Come with me, I’ll get you a dress and I’ll make your hair, you look very rough.” She giggled.

“Thank you!” I said to her softly as I stood up, we ambulated outside and walked to her room. Her room wasn’t that far and we go there in no time. She pushed the door open and my mouth slowly fell, her room was magnificent and was painted orange.

“Your room is beautiful!” I said, she turned around and muttered a thank you.

“Come, sit here! I’ll go get my skincare box!” She said happily, she sounded very excited. She walked towards a wardrobe, I watched her intently as she opened the wardrobe and reached for a very humongous box, it looked like it contained a lot of clothes.

“Are all your skincare product in there?” I asked in bewilderment, she nodded with a smile on her face.

“Yes! And I’ll use them all on your face.” She said, I chuckled.

“Please, don’t.” I laughed, and she chuckled.

“Okay, I’ll only use the cleanser on you and the face toner!” She said, I nodded. “And, the soap and the…” I burst into laughter, she was acting like a baby. I was glad I felt a sudden change of emotion, she was very nice, unlike Ezra.

“No, just the ones you listed will do, okay?” I said, she chuckled and nodded. She opened the box and brought out the cleanser and the face toner, I knew them all because I was in charge of Alpha Helen’s bath.

She drenched the cleanser in cotton wool and then proceeded to rub it on my face. “You got a lot of sunburns!” She said.

“Yeah, most of the time, I work under the sun,” I said, she nodded sadly.

“Now, you are a Queen, when Ezra officially takes the throne, you’ll be the official Queen of Lycans.” She said, I didn’t have a reply to give to her, because her words will never happen, I’ll never sit with Ezra, I’ll never become the Queen of Lycans.

“I know what you are thinking, but you have to try your best and win my brother's heart, Ezra is a very nice person, he just has a little unpleasant history with Omegas.” She said while cleansing my face, she dipped a towel in cool water and then placed it on my face. Her words though seemed very weird to me, what could Omegas have done to him that might have pissed him off so badly.

“You already look pretty!” She beamed happily, and I chuckled.

“Thank you!” I said, she wiped my face properly and then placed the towel back in the bowl.

“I think this should do, for now, you have a very sensitive skin.” She said. She walked over to her wardrobe and pulled out a shirt and a pant. She walked over to me and passed the clothing to me.

“This should do, I want us to watch a movie, there is the bathroom, go change.” She said while pointing towards a glass door, I nodded, I headed for it and as soon as I pulled the door, a strong scent of lavender hit my nostrils. I entered it and it look marvelous, it was orange and it looked well furnished. I took off the dress I was wearing and wore the sweatpants and sweatshirt. The weather was a bit cold, and sleeping outside yesterday didn’t do good at all, it made me very cold. I stared at my face in the mirror when I was done dressing, it looked a bit lighter, I guess the face cleanser must have done its work. I turned around and opened the door, my breath suddenly choked me when I was Ezra seated on the bed.

“G…good m…morning.” I greeted him, I looked down to my feet, not knowing what to do.

“Where is my sister?” He asked, I looked up slowly, he wasn’t smiling.

“I left her here to go change,” I said, I looked away from his gaze immediately. His gaze made me feel very worthless, I fought back the tears that were threatening to fall.

“We are going to the human territory today, and they are some rules I want you to abide by once we get there!” He said sternly, I nodded.

“You are nothing to me, I hope you know that.” He said, I didn’t respond.

“I SAID, I HOPE YOU KNOW THAT!” His voice was very loud, it made the tears that I was trying very hard to hold fall.

“Yes!” I responded.

“Good! When we get there, no one should know that you are my wife, girlfriend, or whatever the fuck humans call their female partner, got it?” He asked, I sniffed, with a nod.

“Use your worlds, you dirty omega!” He yelled, I felt a sudden shock in my chest at the mannerism in which his voice sounded.

“Yes!” I said, I was finding it hard to breathe, his presence was choking me.

“Good! You’re a good girl, be one and you’ll be on my good side, got it?” He said.

“Yes!” I said. I felt my heart crumbling into pieces.

“And you’ll have to get a job there, you can’t use my things for free!” He said, I nodded, there was nothing I could do but agree to everything he had to hurl my way. He looked at me one last time and then turned around.

With his gaze facing the door, he said, “You know, you ruined my life.” I didn't understand what he meant, I’ve never hurt him, so how did I ruin his life?
