88. Mate Mark

I couldn’t believe how good I felt. My body felt like it was lit on fire, the good kind of fire and I felt energized from the inside. It was the best feeling in the world.

Even with my eyes closed I could hear the birds singing outside, I could hear the pans and pots from Christie’s cooking downstairs and for the first time in a month I didn’t feel the overwhelming need to go and join her just so I could be relevant.

I didn’t feel like I was failing my family by laying in bed and not making them breakfast. I turned around in bed and the space beside me was empty, when I reached to feel the sheets it was cold, a sign that Greyson had been out of bed for a while now.

My hand reached something and when I held on to it, I realized it was a piece of paper. I opened it and when I found the messy scrawl that was Greyson’s handwriting within, a smile spread across my face.
