“Flour, butter, cheese, sugar and extra virgin olive oil.” I recite the list Maria wrote for me back to her, “is that all?”

“Yes that is all for now,” she replies with a warm smile, “follow Mario he’ll take you to the store I usually get this.”

My eyes widen at her words, Mario? My Mario? My best friend Mario? Ohhhhh today just got very interesting.

I give her a bright smile, a little too bright actually. “alright I’ll be very, very happy to follow Mario.” Hopefully he can teach me a thing or two about the ways of the human breast.

“Thank you so, so much Evan, you're too kind.” she says ruffling my hair.

“There’s no problem at all Maria, if you can save me just one slice of the cheesecake you can consider that my payment.”

She laughs the wrinkles around her almond eyes deepening, “Alright, consider it done.”

Janet is the cook of the house but Maria is the baker(who needs a cook and a baker? Can’t Janet just bake? Or Maria cook? Isn’t this a bit overkill
