Chapter 3

Alpha Arnold McLean

Seeing my fated mate in the human realm was never what I dreamt of, but I guess that was the goddess of the moon trying to comfort me.

Besides, the moon goddess did a great job by joining me with the most beautiful woman I've ever seen in my lifetime.

After Ted's explanation that day, I couldn't concentrate or do anything properly, because I felt like I wasn't good enough. I felt used and betrayed by everyone including the moon goddess.

The next thought that came to my mind was quitting my Alpha position, but, how will I tell my father and his fathers that I threw away the reason they worked hard over the centuries and millenniums because of a woman?

Besides, Alpha Colin Gates will laugh at me and take my position without hesitation.

I isolated myself for days without eating, sleeping or bathing, thinking what I should do to heal my heart.

After about three days of maltreating myself, I heard a knock on my door.

"Who?" I growled angrily.

"Ted." Came his voice from outside. "I know you don't want anyone to disturb you, but you can't continue like this Alpha."

"You already know I don't want to be disturbed. Please leave." I said the last words quietly.

"Alpha..."

 I'm fine, you may leave now." I said, without giving him a chance to say anything.

"You're not Alpha.. instead of locking yourself up and allowing your rivals win, why don't you take a break, like give yourself a vacation. I'm sure when you return, you will be better." He suggested.

"Thanks Ted. I'll think about it."

With that I started preparing for a trip to Canada the place I love most in this world.

'I'm about leaving for the trip you suggested Ted. See me immediately.' I ordered through the mind link.

Barely thirty seconds after calling him, Ted was at the door knocking, like he was still hanging around, waiting for my call and I opened the door for him.

"I'm going to Canada to take a one week break as you suggested." I started, as soon as he entered. "Only you are permitted to know about this." I warned him and he nodded.

"Yes Alpha." He replied.

"Take care of everything, and mind link me if anything comes up. Don't call me no matter what happens."

"Yes Alpha."

"Thanks Ted, I shall reward you handsomely when I return." I promised him.

"Take care of yourself Alpha." He replied and left.

I left the pack at dusk, without taking any clothes or car, so no one would suspect I had such plans in mind.

I intended making my trip as secretive as possible, so instead of going directly to the airport, I went to the train station and boarded a flight from another city.

I booked a suite at one of the most exquisite hotels in the capital city on my way to the airport.

I got to the hotel I previously booked before coming down here at night and went straight to my room, completely exhausted from stress.

I tried to catch sleep, but it wasn't forthcoming and I tossed and turned on the bed till dusk.

I decided to take a stroll around the beautiful streets of Ottawa that morning.

While I was outside, the beautiful smell of citrus and peaches ran through my nostrils and before I could get hold of it, it was already gone.

"Mate..." Black howled.

I looked around, but saw no one around, except occasional cars or power bikes, passing by and I felt frustrated.

I walked around for several hours without perceiving anything anymore and went back inside, feeling frustrated.

I don't need any woman in my life, at least not now. I really need to get my sh!ts together first.

'We need our mate, everyone needs their mate.' Black argued.

I was in no mood for arguing with Black or anyone, so I ignored him and went to the bathroom. After bathing, I decided to stroll out to look for something to eat.

I took a cab, as soon as I left the hotel room to a restaurant I saw online.

There was a gym house close to the restaurant, I decided to do a little work out before eating, even though the sun was still up.

As soon as I entered the gym house, the same fragrance I perceived a while ago filled the air and Black started jumping for joy in my head.

'Let's find our mate.' He howled.

I wanted to ignore him, but I guess the mate magnet was stronger than me as I saw myself walking towards where the smell was coming from till I got to where the most beautiful woman I've seen in my life stood fixed, probably waiting for me.

She has light brown flowing hair, gray eyes, round full face, tainted nose and a wonderful figure eight shape. Her full lips were calling me to eat them up.

She looked damn hot on her lemon green polo shirt with a pair of black jean trouser she was putting on.

I guess she was shy after seeing me, because she ran away.

I couldn't get my eyes off her, as she ran.

Thank the heavens I didn't marry Tanya Gates. How would I have met such a wonderful significant other?

I followed her smell till she got to a small rickety apartment in a ghetto-like area I never thought existed in this part of the world.

She didn't notice I was following her, so it confirmed that she's a human.

While she entered her house, I stayed close to monitor her movement to know if there was any man in her life.

After a while her phone started ringing and she called a name 'Aya ', she asked the Aya to cover up for her and soon she was out of the house again.

I waited for her till it was almost midnight for her to close from her second job and she wanted to avoid me, but thanks to her friend and her friend's boyfriend, I was able to take her out.

My mate is in the human realm and not just that... She's working herself to death? I won't allow it.

After her friends left, she started looking for every means to run from me, but her smell always sold her off.

The last time she tried to run after lying she wanted to use the toilet, I caught her outside and sealed our meeting with a passionate kiss.

She was already feeling tipsy and so was I. I carried her to my car and drove off to the hotel.

I never intended to do anything with her just yet, or without her consent, so I placed her on the bed with the intention of making a demarcation with pillows, but it didn't work as she pulled me to her and grabbed my lips with hers.

"Why can't I reject you stranger?" She moaned inside my mouth.

She started unbuttoning my shirt gradually, while I peeled off her pale blue top.

I unstrapped her bra and cupped her breast with my hands. It felt warm and cozy.

'This is home.' Black grumbled in my head.

She tore my white singlet without stress and I wondered how she got the strength. She took her time to romance my chest, feeling my body.

I couldn't wait to explore her.

Her hands moved straight to my jean zipper and I pulled off her skirt.

While she was still struggling with my jean zipper, when her phone started ringing.

'Who the hell is that?' I almost grumbled out.

She pushed me off her and scurried to her bag.

After what seem like forever, she brought out her phone, but it already stopped ringing.

"Who is it?" I asked possessively.

She was about to say something when it started ringing again and she picked up.

"Jake!" She exclaimed. "What are you calling me at this time of the night for? Is something wrong with Aya?"

She looked agitated and I enhanced my hearing ability.

"Did you get home safely?" Came a male voice from the other side of the phone.

She wanted to reply, but he kept talking.

"Are you still there with that man? It's risky out there, you have to be careful. Don't let that man deceive you, evil people are everywhere, wolves in sheep clothing."

Black grumbled angrily at that stupid statement.

How dare he? How dare that incapable man compare me and my kind with mere sheep?

If he was here, I would have detached his head from his body.

"Look, Jake, stop caring about me, I'm your girlfriend's best friend, and nothing can work between us." She warned sternly and I smiled.

Wait... What? Jake is lusting after my mate? His girlfriend's best friend?

'Humans!' I grumbled in my head.

'I'm very sure Andrew and Tanya are humans.' Black retorted sarcastically.

Whatever! I'm going to feed Jake's groins to the dogs.

"I want to go home." Was the next thing I heard.

I raised my head to see my mate standing in front of me all dressed.

"What?!!"

I will skin Jake alive! I swear!
