Damien walked in slowly, like a predator stalking it's prey. I did not know which prey he was stalking because I know it ain't me.
His eyes briefly shifted to Sei, who had his eyes closed. He seemed very relaxed, he looked like he had even fallen asleep. I looked back at Damien, seeing that his electric blue eyes had moved from the man and were now glued to my dress. He stared at every outline and curve of mine he could get his eyes on. At that moment, I really wished that I had remembered to wear a coat."Why are you dressed like that?" He asked in a low tone, still creeping towards me. "Don't you know that red is my favorite colour?""I'm sure it is," I mumbled, turning away from him. "Is there anything you need?""Yeah..." He said, appearing behind me. His arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me against his hard front, the warmth hitting my back. "I want you to take your clothes off and get on your knees." He whispered against my ear, rough hands rubbing my sides. Is he crazy? Sei is right there.I pushed his hands off me and squeezed away from him, making him groan in annoyance. Jokes on him, I was already annoyed the moment he stepped through that door."I told you that I don't want to do this anymore." I told him angrily. I was getting frustrated because of this. Everyday, he has to come to work with one motive, and that is to try and sleep with me. I do not care if I keep thinking about sleeping with him. My body may want one thing but my heart and mind are refusing, why won't he listen when I ask him to stop?"Stop lying, you want this as much as I do." He said, crossing his arms defiantly. God, it feels like I'm speaking to a child that refuses to obey it's parents."Enough, I said no. If you aren't here for work then please leave me. I was busy with something before you walked in." I said, standing my ground.Damien looked like he was about to explode. He looked absolutely livid. He opened his mouth, probably going to swear at me like he did yesterday. Before he could let a single word out, a loud growl rumbled from behind me, making the both of us turn to look at Sei.He was still laying with his back on the bed and he appeared to be relaxed but his face said otherwise. He was glaring at Damien and his large canines were bared while he growled, probably his way of telling Damien that he was no longer needed here. The Head Scientist shut his mouth and glared at me, lifting his hand to point at me."Fine, I'll go rail someone else. Just don't come crying 'daddy' when you're in heat." He hissed at her, stomping away like last time.I stared back at him in disgust at what he said. How could a man be so vile and disrespectful like that? Rail someone else? In heat? Was he really going to keep cheating on his fiancé with other women? Why won't he quit?"Pervert," Sei's soft voice spoke. "A mean pervert.""Yeah..." I said, looking down at my dress. Maybe I'm the reason for it this time. My dress isn't appropriate for work, maybe it gave him the wrong idea.As if he read my thoughts, Sei simply stated. "Dress pretty. Like you.""Thank you..." I said, tears slightly forming in my eyes. "I just don't understand what went wrong. He's never been so bitter or vulgar. Maybe it's because I told him I was done with what we were doing. He took it well, I don't get why he's still attached."Sei looked confused. He didn't know that me and Damien were more than friends at some point. Maybe I should tell him. There's no one else I could vent out to. Not Mica, I don't want to lose another friend. Not Sharlene, she didn't know about me and Damien. We aren't exactly on good terms either. There was no one else. No family, no friends outside work.Just Sei.So I sat down on the floor and he did the same on the other side of the glass wall, wanting to hear me clearly. I told him everything, from the beginning. How he started out as this sweet and caring man. How we were both just hurt and did things to stop the pain. How we got addicted to the pleasure. How I felt guilty and wanted to stop. How I moved on and became a better version of me, just finding out now that he hadn't moved on at all. I even told him that Damien was getting married. All of this, I tried to phrase in simple English so he could understand perfectly. There were some words that he didn't understand, like addicted or fiancé. I could see by how he scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion, then I would just explain it to him in a simple way."What a pleasure?" He asked me, scrunching his brows again."Pleasure is a nice feeling you get on your body." I tried explaining."How do you get a pleasure?" He asked again, his voice still so soft."Someone can make you feel it. Or you can do it yourself." I said, hoping he won't ask me how."How?"Uh..."Just do something that feels good to you, I guess."He thought this through and stared at his hand. He lifted it up and placed it on his head, scratching it. I almost burst out into laughter at his cute attempt to feeling pleasure. "You're so innocent, Sei." I said, chuckling softly."Sei innocent?" He asked in shock, stopping his head scratches. It's like with that one statement, I changed his whole world. I did think he had an innocent personality, almost too innocent for me to believe that he did everything he's been accused of. Murder, arson, kidnapping, molestation and a few more gruesome actions.Looking at him now, it's like I'm talking to an innocent little boy."Yes," I said anyways. "Sei is very innocent." He smiled at me, a dimple popping out of his left cheek that made me want to squeal and just hug him. He's so adorable! How is this man a threat to society?I spoke to him a bit more, though it was just about useless things. We weren't close enough for me to have to ask him about his family or all the crimes he's committed. I didn't want to push him away. Tomorrow, I'm planning on asking him to let me take a hair sample from him so I could run tests on it. I have to report back to Mr Hughes in three days time and I want to have as much information as possible. After my shift ended, I bid Sei goodbye and headed to the cafeteria for food before making my way home. Maybe speak to Sharlene if I actually see her.I walked into the cafeteria and was engulfed by the familiar smell of multiple meals and pastries. I wondered what was today's special. Walking to the counter to make an order, I greeted the lady that usually serves lunch. She looked to be in her sixties as her large grey afro was visible under the hairnet she wore. Her dark skin was full of wrinkles and she had the kindest smile I've ever seen. She was absolutely beautiful, just like her home in Africa."Good day, Mrs Zulu, how are you doing today?" I asked her. She looked up at me with her beady eyes and smiled. "How are you, child? I'm doing as well as an old lady can in this weather. What a nice dress, are you going to see someone after this?" She asked."Oh no, it was the first thing I pulled out of my closet.""How unfortunate. Any man would be lucky to have a beautiful woman like you. Just keep searching, you'll find that man soon, maybe even two men." She said with a coarse laugh, a cough soon following. "What shall I get you today, my child? The usual sandwich?""I'll have something hot today. Any suggestions?""I made mac and cheese, classic comfort food. I'll give you that then." She dished up the food for me and handed it over, giving me a plastic fork to eat with. I payed her and added in a tip as I always did, then made my way to the seating area of the cafeteria. I looked around the place, hoping to see a familiar face.Mica unfortunately wasn't there today and Shar was also nowhere to be seen. I sighed and made my way to an empty table, sitting down and starting to eat my food. I should head to Sharlene's office to go see her. We aren't fighting or anything so we should be able to talk things out and fix it.Then I could go home and finish cleaning that broken glass.I quickly finished my food and stood up, packing away all of my trash and throwing it in the nearest bin. I took a bottle of water from one of the fridges and took a sip as I walked to the Sharlene's office. I'll get there and apologize then we can be friends again.I finally got to her office and found the door closed. I lifted my hand up and prepared to knock but stopped when I heard the most nasty sounds I ever thought I would hear coming from Sharlene's office. It was a lot of moaning and screaming, followed by the clapping of skin. I knew exactly what was happening in there but it shocked me to the point where I just moved back.So that's why I haven't seen Mica today...He and Sharlene are getting it on inside her lab.I shook my head and turned around, quickly but quietly getting out of the area. I didn't want to hear any more of that. It sounded nasty and I didn't want to hear my friends making children there. With a snort, I made my way out of the building and went home.I got to my house and tossed my purse on my couch, eager to clean the place before I continued with my normal routine. I headed straight to the kitchen first, thinking to myself if I should get rid of the glass in my indoor bin or the trashcan outside? This thoughts soon evaporated into the air when I looked right where I had last left the shards, my eyes landing on an empty table. No paper, no shards, just table. That's definitely weird.I looked at the floor, thinking that maybe it must have fallen again. I must be on another level of clumsy if that's what happened, or gravity must be against me. To my confusion and shock, I found my floor spotless. There was nothing. It's like someone had just cleaned it up for me but that doesn't make any sense. I don't have any maid, I don't speak to my neighbors and my family doesn't even care about me. Even if all of those situations were different, no one but me has access to my house.Or maybe that's what I thought. As I did in the morning
"Hey," Damien greeted me as he stepped inside the house. He wiped his shoes on the mat before fully stepping in. He was dressed in grey tracksuits and white sneakers. It was strange seeing him without his white lab coat on but he still looked good nonetheless.Too bad he's already taken."Hey..." I greeted back, putting my phone on the table. I felt awkward because I was still in my red dress and shoes, having been too scared to go change when I was by myself. "Can I get you something to drink? I haven't made dinner yet." "Don't worry about it. I'll order us a pizza, you seem to need some warmer clothes. It's freezing in here." He told me, making me look around and widen my eyes. He's right, it was really cold in here. I must've forgotten to switch on my heater when I got inside. I can't believe I never noticed while dressed like this. I quickly walked to the living room and switched it on, warm air immediately blasting out if it."Make yourself at home, I'm going to take a quick sho
After all the events that happened last night, I don't know how I managed to fall asleep in my house. I was incredibly uncomfortable, but Damien was really helpful with making me feel a little bit more safe. I feel asleep with him sitting next to me but when I woke up, he was gone. I checked all the guest bedrooms too, he wasn't there. He must've left early in the morning.I understood though, he had a woman to get back to. I didn't want to leave my house because of what was happening but I couldn't risk my safety any more than I already have. There's a person possibly in here, I'm too scared to even check my basement, and there's an unclassified animal running around the streets. When did this city become so dangerous?I quickly took a shower, this time keeping an eye out for anything and everything. Then I quickly got dressed for work. I wore black jeans, white sneakers and a white long sleeved shirt. I also washed my lab coat and wore that over it. I left my braids since they stil
"You're crazy.""There is no way I'm going to your house.""No ways, you've lost your mind."Those are the words that I kept repeating to Damien, who was still trying to persuade me to go spend a few nights in his house. I'll do that in his dreams, not anywhere else. I'm not going to sleep under the same roof as his fiancé. Imagine how guilty I'd feel with her being nice to me, knowing that I've been sleeping with Damien.I refuse to put her and myself in such an awkward position."She is fine with it, I promise. I just want to make sure that you're safe." He pleaded with me, his hands wrapping around my wrists. He shook them as he spoke, making my whole body rock back and forth awkwardly. "Can I not look after my coworker? My friend?" He said, the word friend feeling like ice cold water has been splashed on my back.Well, shoot. That hurt more than I would've liked it to. Looks like he's decided to focus on his relationship after all. I smiled and nodded, not knowing what I was noddi
Damien and I walked to the cafeteria, the place seeming to be busier than it usually was. Everyone had shifts that ended at completely different hours of the day, which made the lunch hall empty for most of the day. Today it was like more than half the people that worked here had come down for lunch."What's going on?" I asked Damien as I skimmed over today's menu. Oh! Sushi and hotpot dumplings. People made way for us as we walked by because Damien had to be the most important person in the hall as a Head Scientist. With him, I even got to cut through the long line and order first. I got those delicious hotpot dumplings and some crispy and tangy pork ribs with extra marinade. I was starving, but when have I never been hungry?Damien got a chicken strip salad, grilled chicken and a bun with sesame seeds sprinkled on it. He also took a peach. We walked through the cafeteria in search of a good place to sit and we spotted Mica and Sharlene sitting together and laughing about something.
After asking into nothing if Sei was really there, I realized that it was ridiculous of me to do so, so I just drove home. I concluded that what happened, was only in my head. I have no idea why Sei, of all people, would be the one I thought of for comfort but I won't question it any further since it actually worked. I drove up to my familiar white painted house, getting welcomed by the beautiful red roses I had spent months trying to plant. They looked lovely but maintaining them was difficult, I would have to hire someone to do it after this unknown creature ordeal is over. I didn't park my car in the garage, figuring that I was bringing out a bunch of luggage to put inside it anyways. I reversed and stopped, the boot of my car facing my front door.Satisfied with the position of my car, I stepped out and opened the boot, finding nothing but a spare tire inside and a couple of tools for if I ever needed to change one. I pushed them further back to make space for my stuff and turn
"He's not human, is he?"I picked up the remote and opened the wall. I wanted to ask Sei that and hear his response. Maybe, if he decided to lie, I would be able to see through it. Or maybe, he would tell the truth.Just as I suspected, his pale skin was back along with his longer greyish blue hair. I saw him shirtless and in black boxers. He was sitting on the floor with his back against the side of the bed, his head thrown back. "Sei." I called him, stepping closer to the wall. He snapped his head up and looked at me with shocked eyes. Looks like he hadn't heard me entering after all. "Scientist..." He said softly, brushing through his soft curls with his fingers, trying to push them back. "You here? Why?" "I was supposed to receive some results, I'll be leaving in a few minutes." I told him, "who were you talking to?""H-huh?" He asked, looking like a deer caught in headlights. He was genuinely confused about me being here and even more shocked that I had heard him talking."Who
"Coming!" A woman called out when I knocked. I shoved my hands back into my pockets, feeling cold. The rain had wet me while I was outside, so much that I was shaking a little bit. My clothes were partially soaked, making me want to rip them off my body. The door was yanked open and a woman that was about the same height as me faced me. She had blonde hair that was tied up into a messy bun and had a blue scrunchie around it. She was wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans, a white apron tied up from around her neck. She was wearing brown slippers, the colour being the same dark brown her small eyes had. "You must be Akielia. I thought you weren't coming anymore." She said with a tone I could not understand. It certainly was not happy or excited. I nodded, "I was working. Sorry for the wait."I waited for her to tell me to come inside but she just turned on her heels and walked away. I shrugged and picked up my suitcase, following her. Entering, I could smell a lot of things at once. Ther
