Chapter 24: Explanation

Kahlan POV

I couldn't really explain how disappointed I felt at what Eric just did. But I was expecting it. I didn't treat Eric very well, how do I expect him to treat me?

But he could have tried to be more understanding, right?

I turned around to see where Eric went and realized it was towards Marco.

I watched them for a moment, forcefully, and finally decided to leave the hall. It was pointless anyway. I shouldn't have been here in the first place.

Even at that, my legs felt very heavy. I didn't want to leave the party. I wanted to stay back and watch Eric. Perhaps, he would soon be free.

Suddenly, Marco walked away from Eric and towards the entrance of the hall. It looked like he was going to leave.

I hurried after him quickly. Well, if I can't hear anything from Eric, Marco would be in the best position to explain it to me.

And this time, I'm going to listen to all the explanations and I will decide later if I'm supposed to believe it or not.
