Jerica’s POV
I got up at 9 am this morning. Just enough time to have all my things together. Alpha had already mind linked me that he was sending Joseph to pick me up He was our Gamma and third in command. He trusted him to deliver me safely so he could interrogate me about my best friend. I got all my things together and was waiting outside when a black Nissan centre pulled up with tinted windows. I assumed since it pulled into the house it was going to be Joseph. Only to see the window roll down to see that it was Jake with a sneaky grin across his face. I could help but chuckle back and roll my eyes.“You are clearly not Joseph. He is much less annoying. “ I call out to him as I into the car. He chuckles and say “After your outing last night I was very surprised to find out that you had pissed him off enough to ask my brother to come retrieve you this morning. So as a gentleman thinking about texting you today and thought it would be much more polite to show up in person and take you back to the pack house.” He counted. “I didn’t piss the Alpha off! He just has some questions about my friend.” I snapped back. “Your she-wolf friend?” He began driving down the road the towards the city and the pack house just on the other side of it. “Could you tell too? Last night when you saw her?” I asked. “I could sense her wolf but the scent was off” Jake replied. At least I am not crazy. After a few minutes I was lost in my thoughts about how my best friend of almost 4 years has also been a wolf and I didn’t know – Hell! She didn’t know! How would I even approach this with her? Why was my Alpha also so intrigued with her? The questions just kept coming in my mind. Jake POV I could tell she was concerned for her friend. Im not sure what the whole story is there but I knew that was one of her best friends and Jerica was a loyal friend. Having to be brought to the Alpha for questioning about her couldn’t be easy. I guess it would be typical though. Any wolf that didn’t belong to our pack coming into our territory would be questioned – possibly tortured for trespassing. Any other wolfs would have reached out ahead of time for permission from our Alpha or stopped at the border to get it then if it was urgent. Jerica was as beautiful as ever. She wore a pair of shorts, her legs stretch out in the passenger floorboard. and a tank top fitting just snug enough around her breast to show enough cleavage for me to appreciate. Her scent was sweet like honey with a bit of wildflowers mixed in. Being closed in the car had my wolf going crazy wanting to reach out and touch her. We had been sitting without talking and the radio softly playing for noise. I knew I had to snap her out of her thoughts. With out hesitation I reached over placing my palm on the top of her leg, “So you think you’re the hottest she-wolf I know?” Glancing between her and the road. She just chuckled. “I see you checked to make sure I actually put a number in your phone.” She smiled looking out the window. She appeared comfortable with my hand resting just behind her knee. “Now the real question is if it’s the right number?” This caused her to laugh out loud and turn to face me causing my hand to slide on the inside of her thigh. “Why would I give you the wrong one? If I did you would just mind-link me to annoy me?” She retorted. Causing us both to laugh. When she stopped her gaze fell to my hand. I waited to see her reaction. “Jake,” she began “I do like you; I just I am so close to my first shift and I am sure you have noticed I have purposefully not got involved with anyone despite a couple guys offers to date until we found our mates.” I listened carefully to what she said next. “You have been someone that I have cared for and enjoy our friendship for most of my life and while you may be pleasing to look at and we could have fun and date until then and knowing that you still haven’t found your mate yet I wouldn’t mind but it would all be pointless in about 2 months if I found mine. I wouldn’t want to endanger our friendship.” She was rambling. “Jerica, We don’t have to date we don’t have to do anything. We are just comfortable with each other and I would never take anything that you were saving for your mate. I care about you and respect you.” I leaned over and kissed her cheek watching her blush and lean back. We were coming across the other side of the city about to cross into the tree line that would last a mile or two before coming into the pack house. I left my hand on the top of her thigh. Touching her just a little helps me keep my wolf at bay. Happy to be close to our mate and touching her. I couldn’t wait until she shifted the first full moon after her birthday. I couldn’t wait to mark her as mine. It made me happy that she had been waiting on me, well her mate. It was just unbeknownst to her to that it was me.Jericas POV Pulling into the pack house Jake took his hand off my thigh. The tingles I got from it finally stop and now I found myself missing his touch. Glancing over at him as he parked, he gave me a small smile to let me know everything was going to fine. Heading in the pack house, it was quite granted it was a Saturday Morning so there wasn’t really any business for a lot of the pack to handle and they were off with their mates or on patrol. But not me and not Alpha Trevor. We headed down the corridor to where Alpha Trevor office is to find him already waiting on us even though we were 10 minutes early for the meeting. He looked stressed and tired like he hadn’t gotten much sleep. Serves him right for making us get together this morning but I guess I understand if we had a strange wolf in the area, we needed to know what was going on but it was just Trixie she didn’t mean us any harm; why couldn’t he see that?“Thank you, Jake.” Alpha Trevor nodded at Jake. Jake didn’t leave me
Jerica POVLeave it to him to keep giving me mixed signals and confusing me. I run after him to try to catch up; I get pretty close but not enough to bet him. Without my wolf he is strong and faster. He will not get to keep that advantage for long with my birthday just a couple months away. After a moment the stream comes into view. I see Jake slow and strip off his shirt and his short, leaving only his boxers when he jumps into the stream. Nudity was not a big thing in wolf packs but since I had not shifted yet I had not been exposed to it as much. I knew that’s why Jake kept on his boxers, If I had my wolf he probably would have shifted to get here faster. A little out of breath I come to the edge of the stream. Panting I laugh at him splashing around in the water and shake my head at him. “Let’s go Jerica, get in the water!” He shouts and splashes at me. I can only smile and roll my eyes at him as I slide my t shirt over my head and expose myself in a sport bra. I don’t miss the w
Trixie POV The church rush had just cleared out of the diner, and I was cleaning the table that had just paid and left when I noticed someone sat down at my booth out of the corner of my eye. Taking the towel, a was cleaning the table with back behind the counter and walking to that table while pulling out my ordering pad when I looked up to see Trevor from the Great Wolf club from Friday night! He is staring right back at me with those gorgeous green eyes; I feel my face heat under his stare and knowing that I now too, am staring. I close the path between myself and the table, feeling drawn to him I feel a smile come across my face. “Our paths cross again,” I start “It’s Trevor, right?” I would not forget his name but that doesn’t mean I have to let him know that. A sly smirk graces his lips as he nods; “Trixie, right?” Now we both were playing a game. Neither wanting to reveal just how interested we were in the other. “That’s right.” I give him a small nod, the smile never leaving
Trevor’s POV I walk out to my car my wolf proud that we had gotten our mate to agree to go on a date with us especially since she didn’t know we are her mate yet. I am so pleased she said yes. I need to plan something well thought out but not over the top I can tell that she won’t be impressed by something overly expensive, She seems down to earth and from what Jerica told me about Trixie, she comes from working class parents. Giving me the impression that she would not like seeing someone waste money on something trivial as a first date, even if it was to win her heart. I don’t know what I was thinking going behind the counter. It was clear she was surprised and pulled back from me. I am just glad it didn’t keep her from agreeing to dinner with me. My wolf and myself were annoyed she wasn’t paying attention and burned her hand with the coffee. Driving back to the pack house I allowed myself to play over and over in my head her walking around the counter bringing my coffee and her
Trixie POV As I walked home after Sunday’s shift I pulled out my phone and shot a message to our group chat:I got a surprise visit from the guy I spilled beer on at the Great Wolf at the diner today. He asked to take me to dinner this weekend. What did you say – JericaOooooo, I hope you said yes he was a hottie!!! – Abby What are you going to wear? – JanetThey all replied within a minute. To my message. I decided to let them know I had said yes but I needed more from Jerica. I wonder what she was thinking right now. I agreed to dinner. Trevor isn’t bad on the eyes that’s for sure lol. I have no clue what I am going to wear yet, but I have time to plan or shop for an outfit! I sent back out to the group chat. Then a private text to Jerica.Hey Jerica, Funny thing happened after I agreed to the date. He said he would pick me up and get my address from you? I hoped she would be forth coming. There is no way she dated someone like him and didn’t tell us. I am not sure how I would
I quickly looked around to see if anyone saw my embarrassing fall and that is when I saw it. It was big like a bear but stood more like a large dog. The streetlight reflected off on it’s eyes. Could it be a wolf? I stood up slowly and it took a step back further into the tree line. I looked straight ahead quickly hoping that it didn’t know that I had saw it. I started walking slowly at first because I was scared it would jump out and attack me but also because my knees were aching from hitting the concrete sidewalk. After about ten or so steps I couldn’t help but look back over. It was there still! It was like it was watching me going down the sidewalk. I turned back around in the direction I was going to my house and started picking up my pace. I could hear it! It was moving faster in the woods beside me. IT WAS FOLLOWING ME! Stalking me like prey I am sure of it! I glanced back moving faster I didn’t see It in the tree line anymore, but I could still hear it. I was only about 3 mi
Trevor’s POVMondays were normally dull and lots of business and paperwork. I was more upbeat than usual felt a little lighter. Maybe it was because I had met my mate and I knew I would be taking her out this weekend. I had planned on tell my Beta and Gamma today and looping in Jake as well he was typically a gamma too.Since Saturday Jake and Joseph have been taking shifts guarding her at her home and work at the diner. I would have to loop them in the sooner the better. For all I know they could have suspected it already. I had set a meeting for after lunch with the three of them to join me in my office to break the news. Jerica said her and Trixie were going to get some coffee after Jerica’s class today. She would also protect her friend even without wolf if there was trouble, She would be able to mind link us and we could be there quickly.Patrol reports had been normal. A couple rogue sightings here and there but nothing out of the ordinary, just slightly more than last year at
Jake’s POV I dash out of the house stripping my clothes quickly to shift and pick them back up in my mouth I would clear the distance much faster in wolf form to get to my mate and future Luna. In just a matter of minutes a am at the tree line of the city and grab a pack SUV from the line there. I shift back into my human form and take off flying to get to them. They wouldn’t be dumb enough to attack in the city but I knew the girls would likely head back to Trixie’s house which was out of the city on the other side. I sped into the parking lot of the coffee shop they visited most to see them through the window talking. I thought it would be best to mind link Alpha and let him know that I made it here. Alpha, I am with Trixie and Jerica. They are safe. Thank you. – Alpha That’s all he said when he cut the mind link forcibly shoving me out I am sure to focus on his tasks at hand dealing with the rogues that were stupid enough to cross him and our patrol. I take a couple deep brea
