5 || Pawned Everything

Simon was holding his breath when Lilian stood in front of him. Pulling an all casual expression, she voiced out, "What's with your look? Aren't you happy marrying the love of your life?"

Lilian gave Evana a smiling look and then again turned to Simon.

Shane got there and stood beside Lilian. For some reason, Simon looked somewhat familiar but he wasn't sure where he saw him. "You?"

Gulping hard, Simon spoke up, "Sir, I am Simon Caldwell, a project manager of your company."

"Oh, I see."

That's why he looked familiar.

Shane turned to Lilian smilingly, "Baby, you know him?"

Evana was getting confused by the pleading look Simon was giving Lilian.

Lilian stared at Evana for a moment and then spoke up, "Not really. He is almost a new face to me, right?" and turned to Simon.

He knitted his brows not getting what actually was going on in Lilian's mind. He turned to Evana for once to know whether she was taking this seriously.

Lilian again spoke up, "So?"

Simon immediately turned to Lilian as she continued, "You didn't answer. Why are you looking pale? Aren't you happy with this marriage?"

"I am." Simon tried to utter all confidently but his voice just came out as a whisper.

Seeing Simon disturbed like this for the first time ever, Lilian tried to get herself together, "Good to know."

Simon's father-in-law started talking to Shane and Evana also got involved in their conversation at some point.

The way Evana was checking Shane out, Simon could feel it but he didn't dare say something. Remembering his own created mess up, he kept silent. When he again turned to Lilian, she was still staring at him.

Forwarding a packet to him, Lilian smiled a little, "It's for you."

With whatever was going on, she still wanted to thank Simon for being there when she needed someone to hang on to. He was a good friend to her and saved her many times from the bullies in the orphanage.

It's just she expected him to remain like that always with her but he got changed for some reason. The reason wasn't unknown to her also. Simon always dreamt big, so big that he threw their relationship of almost four years out of his way without any hesitation.

While hesitating, Simon took the packet and peeped inside and then turned to Lilian with wide eyes seeing the money inside.

"I have pawned everything that doesn't belong to me." Lilian uttered all casually, "As you have already gone to her, be good to her and be happy. You don't need to worry about me. Thanks to Shane, I also won't have time to waste thinking of you anymore."

Before Simon could say something, Lilian took a step towards Shane and locked arms with Shane who was surrounded by some people now. Shane turned to her and smiled a little. Lilian spoke up, "We should leave now, Shane."

Shane was shocked would be an understatement. Many questions were crossing his mind. He thought Lilian was here to create a mess up in her so-called boyfriend's life.

At least bringing him with her who was his boss, he expected she would make him fire Simon from his job or something. But things weren't going as per his anticipation.

All he found was Lilian talking to her boyfriend for a minute or two. He was busy talking with some other people. So, he didn't get to focus on what she was talking to him about.

But..

His chain of thought got broken when Lilian got uttering again, "Shane?"

Shrugging off his thoughts, he smiled again, "Okay."

Taking leave from them, as they made their way to leave, Lilian didn't even turn back for once. Simon sighed. He just realized the priority and love which he had gotten all along from Lilian, Evana would never give him that, not at least with the look Evana was giving Shane all the while.

Shane turned back for once to look at Simon and found him staring at Lilian sadly. Remorse was visible in his eyes.

He turned back to Lilian. She was saying something but Shane didn't know as he was zoning out in his thoughts.

By the time they got out of the hall room, Shane reached a conclusion of his thoughts and couldn't help uttering, "Was that why you thought of coming here? Not with a thought of showing him his place but rather just out of consideration?"

Lilian turned to him but didn't say anything. This wasn't her motive actually but..

Before she would turn to the hall room again, she thought of leaving this place soon. Otherwise, she might end up doing something, she would regret later.

Shane's phone rang off in his jeans pocket. He took out the phone and cutting off the line, he shoved it back. He had made up his mind. He would try his plan with Lilian.

Putting a halt to his earlier thought, Shane voiced out, "Anyways, how was my acting?"

Lilian smiled a little, "If your day job doesn't work out, you can always sign up with a Rent_a_Boyfriend."

What nonsense!

Shane was irritated and intrigued at the same time. "Is there really such a thing?"

"I don't know. I never needed it." She wanted to add, "Until today." but got stopped.

Seeing Lilian heading out of the resort, Shane spoke up, "Where are you going? I have something to talk to you."

"Okay but not here."

"Why?" Shane raised his brows.

Lilian was about to say something but got stopped as Shane's phone rang off again. Shane took out his phone and knowing, she would go on calling for few times shamelessly, he put his phone on silent mode.

Again Karen's words got ringing in his mind. After hearing from his father, he was expecting a lecture from his grandma but she wasn’t doing as per his anticipation this time.

What is she thinking actually?

Shane wondered for a moment.

Distractedly he was already out of the resort with Lilian trailing behind him.

Giving it a thought, Shane turned to Lilian as she uttered, "Let's go to Red Rose."

Shane thought Lilian was thinking of drinking but he needed her sober to contemplate his plan.

Shane declined her suggestion immediately, "No. Somewhere else."

When he suggested another restaurant, Lilian hesitated for a while but nodded at last.

"We can go somewhere else if you have issues with the restaurant," Shane spoke up as he felt her reluctance.

"No, that's fine."

From there my apartment will be closer. She thought.

"Okay, then." Shane guided her to his car. Lilian was about to follow Shane but got stopped as she heard Simon uttering from behind, "Lilian, wait."
