Emily left the house very early the next morning after telling Amber that she had an early morning test. Amber dressed up and went to work also in a better mood than that of the previous day, since Eddy had made her feel better last night. She got to the office and saw the text from Tom saying he would be coming to the office late, so she attended the meeting with the heads of teams in his stead. “Whatever” she mouthed as she read the text and removed her long coat to start the day’s work. Have you found anyone yet?”, Phoebe asked as she entered the office in her small black gown barely covering half of her thighs. “The search is going well, but can you just put on some skin hose at least? As Emily was hanging out with Mark and Jessica at the game house, she kept checking her phone as if she was expecting a call or message. Jessica, who had noticed for quite a while, decided to ask what was going on with her. “You seem restless, why are you staring at your phone all day?” Jessica asked, moving closer to her. “I am expecting a call from home, that’s why” she replied immediately with a nervous smile. “You rarely talk about home, but I hope it is not something serious though,” Jessica remarked, and she shook her head. “No it is not. Emily left the house after making sure Amber had left and texted Eddy once again about their discussion. She and Eddy were good friends for a long time, way before he met Amber and asked her out. She was the one that introduced them to each other but, unknown to Amber, they had been cheating on her behind her because she wouldn’t notice thanks to her busy life. “I think we should go together now. I have spoken to the doctor”, Emily texted him. “I will meet you there, just text me the address” he responded, and she wore her clothes to move out. As promised, he came to meet her in the hospital and they both went to the doctor who helped them to abort the baby. Tom got home in the evening after canceling the meeting and met his mom preparing a large amount of food, so he wondered what was going on. “Is something happening? What’s up with the varieties?” he asked, walking to take a closer look. “The chairman of ITM Construction is coming over for dinner”, she replied, wiping her hands with the napkin as she set the table. “Why would he come over for dinner here? Father can just take him out, so why is he stressing you out?”, he said angrily. “What stress? This is just to support him, you know. I cannot do anything to help you at the company, so I should do this to help you and him too” she said with a smile, and he went into his room angrily. He finished showering and unlocked his safe to check out a document when he saw the contract between them and took it out. Amber dressed for work the following morning with the determination to turn down the offer and submit her already written resignation letter. She could not get over the guilt of having to deceive many people just because someone told her to, in return for fame and filling her pocket. She escorted her mother back to the hospital where she stopped to have a word with her doctor about her current situation. “I think we will be able to see a donor faster than we expected because some of the patients pulled out of the treatment list. They didn’t have money for the dialysis anymore, and they gave up, so your mother has moved up ten slots on the list”, the doctor informed her, and she didn’t know whether to be happy for her mother or sad for the patients that died or pulled out of the slot. “So we just have to hold on for a little while, right?” she asked to clarify. “Yes, all you have to do is hold on for a little while, and I am sure a miracle will happen sooner” the doctor assured her,

She told Emily that she would be absent at the house for a few days after dropping her things at home. Emily told her not to worry about her since she was already back on her feet now and moving around and just living her own life, so she went over to Eddy’s place. “You are not going to work?”, Eddy asked in surprise when he saw her at his door. “I am taking a leave for now, so I will be spending a few days here”, she said and pushed her way in. She had bought groceries from the store, wine and fruit to keep herself busy and well-fed for the days she would be spending with him. They finished dinner and played several games before settling down to watch a movie while munching on snacks and wine. They took wine to the extent that they started feeling hot and tipsy. Before they knew it, they had yanked off each other’s clothes and made out heavily. This time she was prepared for anything, and it felt as if his warmth would be the biggest antidote she needed to make herself forget her
