Meeting with My New Family

Lyra's POV,

When I opened the door, I saw two ethereal beings with exactly the same black hair as mine. You can ask how I know when I don't have a mirror. Well, because my hair is quite long, it touched my ankle. It's so shiny and glossy that I want to pet my hair again and again.

So where were we? Oh, I remember two ethereal beings—one man and one woman—who were with red eyes staring at me intently like me. Those eyes are like rubies; I like them.

"Hello, little one," the woman said with a longing tone.

"Hello, Granny!" I replied in a sarcastic tone, although it sounded cuter.

"You are really her daughter; she never disappointed me with wordplay.

You seem to have inherited this quality of hers, but little one, how was your trip to another world?" That pretty granny said it mischievously.

"Well, what are you saying about? Can you please tell me everything elaborately?" I asked cautiously.

"No, little child, we cannot tell you anything about that, but now it is time to introduce ourselves. I am your aunt and he is your father; you can call me aunty Echo, and obviously you will call your dad daddy or father, which makes you comfortable." Aunt Echo replied with amusement.

"Hello, dad. Hello, Aunty Echo. I already have a name, so don't always call me Little One. I am Lyra. I didn't have a surname, as I was left outside an orphanage. But like crossing over to a new world and meeting beauties—ahem, pretty people like you—it seems like a dream, I said with nostalgia.

My dad, who seemed mute, opened his mouth for the first time and called my name. I didn't know my name was so sweet before I heard it in his voice. "Lyra, your name would be Lyra Aurelia Da Vamp from now on, the only daughter of the king of vampires, Lennix Arnold Da Vamp..."My father said it without any emotion.

You say Lyra Aurelia Da Vamp! This name seems to be the same as a book I read while I was doing a part-time job in the school library. Maybe I am thinking too much. Okay, let's adapt to this life first, as there was nothing to look back on in that black-and-white life anyway. There was only struggle and pain in that life without only one person, and that is my adoptive mom, who tried her best to raise me, but I passed away even before I could repay her.

While I was engrossed in my thoughts, I felt a sudden change in space, and I was in another room with mirrors, which I searched intently for a long time.

"Why are there so many mirrors here, although there was no mirror in my room, Aunty Echo? Also, where is Dad? Why are there only you and me?" I asked nonstop.

"Lyra Aurelia Da Vamp, listen carefully among these mirrors. One is your life mirror, which you need to find; it would assist you, but it can also kill you. Our life mirror is a vampire's most precious treasure. Every Vampire would have their own life mirror, and this mirror house was created by our ancestor, Desmond Joseph Da Vamp. It was the god of darkness who gave us massive power but also massive weakness. We are cursed to live in darkness by great gods and goddesses, but only the God of darkness pitied us and gave us an opportunity to redeem ourselves from that massive sin that our ancestors had committed. Go choose your life mirror, as your life mirror defines who you will be and how much power you will have. I will say no more, but remember that these mirrors are alive too; they chose their masters. If you are not compatible with any of them but force any of them, you will be burned to death. Just follow your heart, and you may find your best mirror companion." Aunty Echo said it very seriously, as if my life depended on it.

I felt fluctuation again, and now I am in a room full of mirrors, but different from before, they look like they are alive, not decorations. None of the mirrors showed my reflection, so I started to look around every mirror.

One of the mirrors even talked with me.

"Child, we cannot accept you! You have to find her. Don't waste time; your time is limited!" A kind-looking round mirror decorated with blue jewels spoke cheerfully. But don't ask me how I know the mirror is kind; I just knew it. Yep, my heart says the mirror is kind.

Then another grumpy mirror talked with malice: "You can never find her, and even if you did, you would be BURNED TO DEATH. She has such a temper; aha, she chose no one in thousands of years, but as I am good, I will fulfill your wish to die and give you a clue. You want it, Little Kiddo?"

"Humph, you noisy mirror who wants your help! I will find her on my own, but thanks, kind grandpa mirror, for your warning." I said it boldly.

I started looking for more, but it seems I started to feel weaker; maybe that grandpa-kind mirror talked about this. I started to feel restless, but I felt a familiar aurora, so I started to concentrate and began to see a hand mirror in hexagonal shape, each side inlaid with six multicolored gems.

The mirror kept calling me, and my feet started moving on their own like puppets. I started to feel like I would die soon as my body started to burn with fire with each step I was taking. Still, I endured everything and moved toward the source from where I was feeling the summons. I started to feel like someone had been waiting for me for a long time, and I should go to her and erase her loneliness. The closer I get, the more I want to meet that mirror soul. But my pain level increased too much beyond what I could bear, and I tried to bear that unbearable pain only to see her.
