I hope you all enjoy this chapter.
AVERY’S POVI sipped the hot tea from the cup while staring at the space. I was trying to contact Malphus but to no avail. Where did the raven go? I could hear the faint voice of Dominic from the other room as he was speaking on the phone. I brought the cup close to my lips when a growl tore the air, startling me. Some of the tea spilled on my jeans and the hot sensation stung my thighs. I took a napkin on the table and wiped the liquid soaking my jeans. My eyes darted towards Dominic who stalked towards the living room, his jaw clenched. “What happened?” I asked in concern. “The office building…it's on fire,” he replied while his hand stretched to get his coat from the couch. “What? Was Mathews…” “No. It was Aisel,” he said and my frown deepened. That man had some balls to put fire to Dominic’s office building. But how did he even get access? I had been to Dominic’s office quite a few times and the security was tight enough to not allow a mosquito in without permission. I ro
Later in the day, Dominic was out of sight. I walked around the room anticipating what would happen in the ceremony. There was no way I could use a spell that would work on Aisel. Then, there was his master. I wondered who this person could be. Suddenly, the door to the room flew open and Dominic strutted inside with an aloof face, “The pack wolves who died…” I frowned, “Yeah?” “While bringing their bodies in, Asphalt was getting hungry and so he started to look for the souls. He found no trace of soul in their bodies,” he said and my jaw hung. “What?!!” “Typically, it takes a lot of days for the soul of a person to leave their body after they die. Asphalt usually consumed the soul during that period. The wolves died today.” he explained and I blinked in confusion. How was that possible? “Did Aisel try any special spell on them?” I asked. “That is what I am wondering. A body can be destroyed but not a soul. They can be either trapped or converted into a different form of ener
“I love young couples attending ceremonies. You both look so good,” Aisel said in a cheerful tone and Dominic walked past him, tugging me along as if not interested in his ridiculous banter. There were five SUV parked in front the mansion and Aisel pointed towards the gray one in the middle. One of the men held out the door for us and I stepped in first. Dominic got inside like he owned the cars and not Aisel. We held each others hands while the car started and Aisel sat on the passenger seat. “Are you both comfortable? Anything you need?” he asked.“Yes, your dead body below the heel of my shoe,” Dominic retorted. “Wonderful.” Aisel turned back to look at the front and I looked out at the street lamps illuminating the dark road. The weather was extremely cold but the windows were rolled up so I didn’t need to put on the extra coat I brought. “You trapped the souls of the wolves in the office building,” I said and looked at Dominic who gave me an approving nod. We had planned to c
TRIGGER WARNING : MENTION OF GRAPHIC VIOLENCE AND SOME SCENES COULD BE TRIGGERING. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. “I convinced the wolves and some of the neighboring packs to attack the witches. No one in their right mind would reject a good opportunity like this, Alpha.” Castiel added, his gaze firm on Dominic.“I don’t believe you attacked the witches out of your heartbreak, as you stated earlier. Witches harness a lot of power. Killing them was a bonus, wasn’t it?” Dominic asked, staring back at the man.Castiel smirked faintly, “Yes. Witches are born with the capabilities to harness powers from the nature. I wanted that for myself, so I started the battle. Killing and gathering the souls of witches help me gain more power. But Clarissa outsmarted me and those witches trapped their souls in the Median.”He pointed towards the window, “The weather of Wilfair used to be sunny, not cloudy. A witch’s death leads to changes in the town as it used to be a magical place. The herbs and medicinal p
Just when it felt like all hope was lost, a bright light covered my eyes and I was transported to a different place. The sound of birds chirping reached my ears, there was a floral smell in the air that was soothing to my nerves. There was a beautiful lake that reflected the yellow sky above.“Avery,” a warm voice sang in my ears and a soft hand caressed my forehead. When I turned around, my eyes met with a pair of delicate brown eyes, very similar to the ones I saw when I looked at my reflection in the mirror. The women behind me had chocolate brown hair falling down her shoulders in silky waves. Was she…“I am your mother, Avery. Maria Whitlock.” she said and I was shocked.“Mom?”“Yes sweetie.” her face held a certain amount of love and kindness that was very similar to my great grandmother Clarissa. She cupped my face and her touch lit up the darkest corners of my heart. Not being able to hold my emotions anymore, I hugged her and cried my heart out. When I learned that the people
The bullet shot from the pistol froze in mid-air. I was shocked.A familiar raven entered with the sound of its flapping wings through the window and relief washed over me. Finally, Malphus was here.Malphus sat on the gold railing of the staircase at the side and croaked. A different voice spoke in my head.“I am transferring some of my powers to you.”The bullet fell on the floor with a clink and Aisel noticed the raven. Malphus used the time-freezing spell but it appeared more powerful than the one I used. But Malphus told me he couldn’t do magic. Then, how? Before Aisel would make a move, my body slid down to the floor and I could move freely. My palms tingle and a bright blue light emerge on my hands.“Don’t morph it into a weapon. Throw the ball on Aisel,” the voice said. It sounded deeper.I did as told and threw the sphere of light at Aisel. He dodged it, but the light crashing with the wall behind spread into the entire room. Aisel and Sam’s feet were glued to the floor by th
“You asked me earlier how I did the transporting thing, Avery. Its because I have witch powers in me,” Sky started and I was almost about to spill the sprite from my glass. “What?!” Jannet nodded. “I am a werewolf cum witch. A hybrid. A first of a kind. Just like the Alpha,” he jerked his head at Dominic who was silently listening while running his hand down my back in a circular motion. “The Alpha is a hybrid too?” Jannet asked. Since she was deep into the matter, there was no point in keeping her in the dark. “Yeah. He is demon and a wolf.” I said and looked at Dominic. “Wow.” Jannet had intrigue written all over her place. “How are you a hybrid, Sky? Was any of your parent—” “A witch? Yes. You know that person too well. Aisel.” I took a large gulp of the sprite. Aisel??? Out of all the people. This was why I felt like Aisel’s behavior was similar to someone I knew. It was Sky. They both had the kind of creepy smile which hid a lot of secrets behind its facade. I should hav
Brief Explanation of Chapter 37: Vol 2 Castiel’s powers include trapping a person in the realm of their mind. Avery was pushed into the magical realm, which was inside her mind. A person’s mind in this fiction is made up of thoughts, memories, and all. Castiel can manipulate a person’s mind by creating illusions of people the person loves to be against them. Samuel’s mind was connected to Avery’s through Castiel’s power, so the fight between the two happened. Next, the white corridor with doors is the corridor of her memories. When she opens one door, she sees a bad memory of the day her fake mom and dad discussed how she was of no use. Castiel can manipulate what she sees, so she sees all the bad things around herself that slowly start to break her mentally. All those figures attacking her are strong illusions of the mind played by Castiel to mentally weaken her since Avery is not very confident in herself. He targeted her weak spot. But when Avery was on the verge of giving up, the
