EPILOGUE (PART-2)

AVERY’S POV

I couldn’t move, I was too tired. Before my eyes closed, the last I remembered was the doctors pulling out the baby. I wanted to smile and get a look, but my vision was blurry.

When I fluttered my eyes open, I was resting on a hospital bed. In the corner of the room, I saw Dominic leaning against the wall. His eyes looked puffy and red as if he had cried before this.

What happened?

“The baby!” I sat up and an excruciating pain shot through my back. Dominic came to my side and made me lean back on the bed. I looked at him, “Dom…the baby…”

“Hush, calm down. You just woke up. Take some rest.” his eyes held no expression, they were blank. Why was he behaving like this? His behavior scared me.

There was a certain emptiness in my heart that I couldn’t comprehend.

“Dom. Where is the baby?” I asked, the impatience clear in my voice. I just wanted to see my child. Was that too much to ask?
