Chapter 3

\"This was your work plan for the next two years. Take a look at it and see if you want to make any changes, otherwise we’ll proceed with it.”

James Fu\'s assistant Danny Cheng was assigned to handle Joey Xiao’s matters.

Joey Xiao’s eyes flashed. He looked Danny Cheng in the eye and asked, “How does your boss compensate you for protecting his old lovers?”

  Danny Cheng was silent.

In annoyance, Joey Xiao hit the wooden table with his fist. He shook his head and focused on the plan.

\"It\'s a big deal of money for such a generous condition.\"

  He looked and evaluated.

  Danny Cheng said nothing.

\"The work plan was out, and what about the agent?\"

James Fu had berated his former agent harshly. The poor guy has since disappeared.

After a while, Danny Cheng said in a serious voice, “Mr. Fu said that I will be your new agent for the next two years.”

Joey Xiao\'s eyes narrowed slightly. He made no secret of his disdain for Danny Cheng.

“James Fu was so kind. He puts a canary in a cage and assigns his assistant to take care of it.”

\"Don’t flatter yourself, you know you are just a lark.\"

Joey Xiao turned around. A young man stood at the door. He looked eerily similar to Joey in his youth.

\"This was Larry Lin, the company\'s new signing artist,” Danny Cheng introduced him.

\"Whatever.\" Joey Xiao was outwardly dismissive, but deep inside, he was amused.

James Fu must hate him so much that he made the effort to find a new lover that looked just like him.

\"I heard that you and James were together before?” Larry Lin asked as he walked into the office. “You look like you’re in very bad shape.\" He looked contemptuously at Joey Xiao.

Joey Xiao noticed that Larry Lin was more than a little jealous, and understood that in the eyes of others, he probably played a bigger role in James’s life than he actually did.

He shook his head with a smile and brushed Larry Lin’s hand, and said lazily, “Child, treat the elders properly. Be more respectful.”

He deliberately put emphasis on the word elders, mocking Larry Lin’s lack of discipline as well as the age gap between him and James.

“You are just an ordinary person, how dare you talk to me like this!”

Larry Lin angrily stared at Joey Xiao. If it weren’t for Danny Cheng’s presence, he would have slapped Joey.

Joey Xiao didn’t actually mind the younger man’s insults.

\"Joey Xiao, you miserable old fool--\"

\"Larry Lin.\" James Fu suddenly came in and interrupted him.

Seeing James Fu, Larry Lin\'s eyes flashed through a fluster and quickly came up to explain.

  \"James, I.\"

James raised his hand to interrupt, pointing to the clock. And reminded in a stern tone, “It’s time for your performance class on the third floor.”

Larry Lin was shaken by his cold tone and shrunk his neck.

“Nah,” he retorted. “I don’t need to attend those classes.”

James Fu squinted his eyes and looked at him coldly.

\"Do you want me to arrange a new job for you?\"

  \"No, No.\"

Then, having second thoughts, Larry Lin has slightly changed his reaction. In an obedient tone, “James, I’m going to class now.”

Larry Lin glared at Joey Xiao as he prepared to leave.

He had to give him credit for his exquisite acting, Joey thought.

After sending Larry Lin off, James Fu turned back to Joey Xiao.

  \"Have you discussed the contract?\"

\"It’s a pretty generous deal, and has given me access to so many resources. I’m impressed.

\"It was indeed a big deal,” James said to him, “compared to what you get from those you get to go to bed with.”
