Chapter 6

  \"Okay! Act naturally! Let\'s go again.\"

The director stood behind the camera and gestured at the two men, who were just a few steps away.

Joey Xiao lay on the ground, hearing words, and his eyebrows were not easy to read.

Larry Lin kicked him all over, really hard. He was catching his breath. He couldn’t believe the people around them were unaware that Larry Lin was deliberately hurting him.

  It was very real.

The leading actress had been waiting for a long time on the sidelines The other actors and staff all seemed tired after a long day of work. Nobody took notice.

Joey Xiao warned him. \"Larry Lin, you\'d better stop.\"

Larry Lin just raised an eyebrow, and gave him a smug look.

Though badly hurt, Joey Xiao calmly sized him up .

Larry Lin was smiling at him. \"Are you expecting James Fu to back you up?

It was clear that James Fu had deliberately set him up for failure by sending Larry Lin here to work with him.

A very willful young man, he had a hard time taking instruction. He also had a hard time getting along with his co-actors and the crew. Wanting to make progress more quickly, Joey Xiao had made an attempt to break his will.

“As an actor, you don’t seem to have much going for you. If you want to get ahead in life, just go to bed with him.”

Apparently, this pissed Larry Lin off. He proceeded to teach Joey a lesson.

It was so surreal, that everyone thought that they were exchanging friendly blows. Everyone was tired from having worked all day. When Larry Lin seemed to be kicking Joey for real, everyone was too stunned to react.

The director panicked, and raised his megaphone and shouted at the people standing outside the field.

\"What are you doing? Don’t you see they are hurting each other! Stop them!”

Larry Lin seemed to be amused by the sight of Joey Xiao being carried on a stretcher to an ambulance.

Mr. Chen was shocked. His face paled as Larry Lin spoke to him. \"Mr. Chen, do yourself a favor and get yourself a day off, spend a day in the spa or something. You look terrible!” He smiled as he said, “My agent will call you later.”

He was in good spirits as he left.

When Joey Xiao realized that he was back in the hospital, for him, everything was a blur. He could make things out with some difficulty.

He tried to lift his hand but couldn’t.

He could tell that there was a figure sitting by the bed.

  \"What happened? I can’t move my arms.\"

The vague figure heard him speak, and responded by getting up.

He waited for an answer but there was only silence. He sipped his lips and asked nervously, “Am I paralyzed?”

James heard the question, but he had no idea what to say. He felt a mixture of fear, and pity.

  \"I’m not sure.\"

\"How come you decided to visit me?” Joey’s mood had soured upon realizing that it was James sitting by his bed.

James Fu opened his mouth and started to say something but Joey Xiao cut him off before he could say something. “I don’t think I’ll ever forget the warning you gave me.\"

James Fu had a huge crease between his eyebrows. In an attempt to diffuse the tension, he said, “The doctor said it’s temporary. How was the pain?\"

  Joey Xiao sneered. “A lot.”

He closed his eyes and pretended to be tired.
